Epik Legend Dual 12" subwoofers

http://www.epiksubwoofers.com/legend.html

Following in the footsteps of our wildly successful Empire subwoofer is the new Legend, from Epik Subwoofers. The Legend takes all of the technology and performance that the Empire provides, and fits it into a smaller package.

Size matters. Some people simply can’t fit an Empire into their listening room or their budget. The Legend allows you to fit great bass into your home without a huge price tag or a large cabinet. However, you still get the same high quality bass that you’ve come to expect from Epik.

Never has there been a subwoofer that sounds this good and offers this much performance at this price. We mean it. There are a lot of ‘wanna-be’ subwoofers that are laying around in large electronic retailers at more than double the cost that can’t even scratch the surface of what the Legend provides.

Incredible musicality? Huge output? Deep extension? You got it. The dual sealed design takes care of what matters to our most demanding customers. Distracting port noise is completely eliminated as well as the sloppy, boomy bass that nearly all subs at this price point seem to suffer from.

$499 a pop or $899 for 2 of them.

i have been thinking about adding another sub to my setup.

MFW-15 are just to iffy with amp issues , etc. Empires for me have better SQ.

Thanks. Knocking on wood, both of mine have worked flawlessly for about a year and the slam with two of them is amazing. I figured the SQ would be better because its sealed, but does it have the slam and depth of the MFW or will I lose some of that. I want the Empires, but I guess I want to justify that I need them also. :D

Just because a sub is sealed doesnt mean it has better SQ.

Not as much as I like SQ. Was using a Anti Mode with them and had lots of slam but changed to Audyssey Sub EQ for the flat output and love the SQ it gives. Matchs with my mains at 75 db. Any sub can go BOOM but does it have SQ?

No one has heard them yet, shipping starts in two weeks. You can't go wrong with either company. I think the Legend is on the same level as the new SVS SB12 nsd with the legend being cheaper.

I talk to the owner today. I think his name is Chad. He answered when I called in and he informed that dual legends equal the output of 1 empire and if he had to choose he would go with one empire. I was kind of set on Dual Legends til that and now am up in the air. Dont really want to spend the coin for dual empires and was loving the thought of dual legends. Any thoughts.

well atleast Chad was honest with you.

get 1 empire now and add another one later on.

or get the 2 Legends and if it aint what you want, get 2 more...

Yeah I pulled the trigger, will post my impressions when they get here. Transit time is only 2 days from there to memphis and they are using home delivery so I should have them by sat. He says they ship immediately. I hope they will be ok, only time will tell.

If you were considering dual Legends as opposed to one Empire, how'd that make you consider dual Empires now?

The legends utilize 12" woofers, the empires use 15" woofers. It's not exactly comparing apples to oranges when you're talking about dual of each set.

I have dual MFW-15's now. I want to have an even bass response across my entire room. I was hoping the 2 legends would have more output than one empire. I wouldnt even be thinking about new subs had AV123 not gone under, but since they have and I dont see any future support if the amp failed, I figured now would be a good time to sell them and try something new. I wanted dual empires but did not want to spend the 2000 with shipping to get them and when I saw the legends come out, I decided those might fit the bill and the price was right.
