I don't care what someone believes. What I do care about is when you start killing and maiming friends and loved ones in the name of your religious beliefs. If these fanatics are bastardizing a religion, its up to the sensible members of it to step forward, denounce it, and be their toughest critics.
I don't see that happening save for a few very brave Muslims.
I'll step up and say the same thing about Christians Dave, which is well known that I am one. Some of these crackpots like that kook in Florida burning Korans and that jackass Fred Phelps and some of the other denominations of Christianity twist and turn the message in the Bible for their own vainglory, however, there are Christians like myself who denounce and condemn what they are doing all the time and there are far more like me than there are that practices these mutant forms of Christianity but hey in this country they are a right to do it. THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT THE RIGHT THING TO DO! Again I state, with freedom comes rights, with rights come responsibility and common sense.
This why I get so bent out of shape here when folks lump us all into the same category with the ones who do the wrong or evil things. -

To me religion is within ones mind body and soul. I don't need to be part of a group to tell me what's right or wrong nor do I need to preach and get people to think and belive what I belive. My religion and beliefs with god are between me and god..
Larry, a religion is made by man, spirituality is of God, Jesus Christ if you will. You have every right to believe what you do and I commend you for it. I do disagree and condemn the actions of a religious body/entity who claims it's only their way to salvation and not others.
I need to stop as I feel I'm walking that tight rope of religious discussion which is against the rules of our host here. -
If you don't believe in it, you don't have to worry about dying because someone else does.
The whole 'believe in Jesus or burn in hell bit' isn't being used to slam planes into skyscrapers or blow up people out at restaurants (cue Crusades references). Interestingly, if such a thing did happen, there's be an unending line of people of that faith to denounce such actions.
They wouldn't be partying and hoopin' it up in the streets as the news spread.
THAT'S the difference.
B I N G O! Well said Dave! -

I'm not trying to stir the pot, all I'm saying is other religions use fear and manipulation as a form of control.. and just because other religions have not put a plane into the side of a building does not mean they haven't done their fair share of evil through out history..
Like I said good and bad apples in everything.. their the ones that give the good a bad name.
Key words Larry. I don't believe those practices of evil are being done anymore but by one group who've bastardized their Holy Book to fit their agenda. -
Well Joe,christians have had their problems in the past, maybe today they are not as controling as they used to be,be they are to an extent still. Some of you make very good points. For me, I agree with faith is between you and whatever it is you worship. If you chose to share that faith with like minded people, cool, but the second you try to force feed it to someone,or kill over non believers, you lost credability in my eyes anyway. It's one thing to have a group get together to worship, be it God,or whoever,it's another to go out to convert as many as you can for the power of a few to control. Unfortunately some in our own government are hiding behind religeous freedom to skirt the issue of what building a mosque at ground zero means to fanatics who use symbolism as a means to conquer. All you have to do is look to Europe as an example of what our own elected officials are touting for us to become, and your stomache will do flipflops.HT SYSTEM-

Tony you pretty much echoed what I said. IMHO if someone COMES TO ME and asks about my beliefs and we get into a discussion I will try to persuade them see the truth as I see it . . . but I won't force my belief on them or others.
"Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you." Matthew 7:6." ~ Jesus Christ
I live by that! It simply means that if someone is not ready to accept the truth as you see it, don't bother until they are. Some of the Evangelicals that are so fanatical forget this passage and they should be ashamed of themselves IMHO! -
