When I had my 95 Corvette, was on I-40 and 6 am and decided to see what it could do. I hit 150 mph and quickly backed off, thinking I could be a greasy spot on the highway ( a looooong greasy spot) Only time I ever did that, now if I am going 70mph I feel like I am driving like a maniac!

I do 85-90 MPH daily on the way into work, but on my stretch of freeway that's pretty much the flow of traffic.

This comment has promped me to reflect on my youth in a vain attempt to find stupid things I did in my youth...

    1. Drugs.... nope, not even one time.
    2. Excessive drinking... nope, never ever been drunk enough that I puked or passed out.
    3. Driving at incredibly dangerous speeds... nope
    4. Smoking of anything... nope
    5. anything else that would constitute stupid in the minds of reasonable people(joining CP excepted:eek::p)... nope

Now I know why I just don't seem to be able to find anything to like about you.

its sad to think but we also had a kid from my high school who was on a bike and him and his buddy outran the cops because they had been caught before dealing with drugs blah blah. Well the guy needed to come back into town because thats where he lived and the cops saw him, chased him through town at about 50-70 MPH and he ended up crashing into the back of a parked van and died on impact.

That was last month and really sucked but if he woudl have used his head and not try to outrun the cops he would probably still be alive.

i675 Crash Update – Brennan Eden Out of ICU, Doesn’t Remember Accident.

by Lonnie on Sep.01, 2010, under Commentary, News and Events

Update: Police found no evidence of drugs or alcohol in Brennan’s Body ( blood results from the morning he was taken to the ICU )

Sunday night I was informed by someone who’s a friend of the Eden family that Brennan was released from the intensive care unit at Miami Valley Hospital. This doesn’t mean that he will be released from care any time soon as I imagine his injuries are significant. What I do know at this point is that he has no brain damage which is a very excellent sign despite the fact that he doesn’t remember anything about the accident at this time.

Memory loss after such an extreme accident isn’t uncommon, Brennan may recover some memory from the accident, but the chances of him actually remembering enough detail to shed light on what happened seconds before going off the road are slim to none in my honest opinion.

There have been numerous theories thrown around about the cause of this near tragedy, such as:

    1. Brennan was attempting to commit suicide
    2. Brennan’s accelerator was stuck
    3. Brennan fell asleep
    4. Brennan was drunk, high or both – Officially disproven ( see update above )
    5. Brennan thought he could out run the police
    6. Brennan was being chased by police – Officially disproven ( I was there )

At the end of the day, none of this can be proven as true without getting into Brennan’s head and without his memory of the events, I don’t think any of these theories will be proven or dis-proven any time soon.

So what do we know? all we know are the facts and the facts don’t really support a lot of the theories that have been tossed around.. so what are the facts?

    1. Brennan has a history of bad driving

Brennan was ticketed in 2009 for doing 95 in a 65 which is obviously very fast indeed, but that only shows what he was doing when he was pulled over, it’s hard to say what his max speed was. He obviously has a “need for speed”.

In addition to being arrested for speeding, Brennan was also stopped for “Failure to Control” which translates to reckless driving. If you combine a tendency to speed with “Failure to Control” then the events on i675 seem to be a little less of a surprise.
    2. Brennan was arrested and caught with marijuana in the car as well as alcohol ( despite being unopened )

Considering that Brennan was stopped at 6:15am with both of these in his car, as well as a minor in the vehicle, it is safe to assume ( though, not known fact ) that Brennan had probably been up all night. Couple that with just getting over the panic/frustration/anger of being stopped by police with a minor, drugs and alcohol .. then add that in with speeding and “failure to control” and you have an accident waiting to happen.

Am I angry with Brennan? not at all .. not in the very least. I wish him a quick recovery, I wish the best for his friends and Family .. and I hope that one day we can all truly understand what happened.. but most importantly, I hope Brennan realizes just how lucky he really is.. he not only survived the horrific crash, he survived being ejected hundreds of feet.. AND .. came within 10 feet from me running him over.. so he should also thank the manufacturer of my breaking system :)

    Thanks for the updates.

Well, hopefully this kid takes it as a sign. I knew a guy in HS, he was nuts. Had plenty of accidents, and close calls, but he never slowed down. I don't even think he made it to 20.
