This relates to post I did on the troubles I am having with this pre/pro.

The rear panel and spec sheet are attached....hope that helps.

This is a pretty typical older 5 channel DD and DTS processor....solid state.

Thanks.

What do you need to know? I have worked with B&K since 1999. If you are still using the Ref20 , dude it's time to move on. Look for a ref50s2 used. It will do wonders for your system and give you so much more.

This relates to my post on Pre/Pro Issues right below this....the Ref 20 has started to run very hot and sends a lound screech through the speakers and headphones...

the guys tell me it is power supply...

I had this with a parasound 5 channel amp and moved it to a 2 channel system...

Neil, the spec sheet won't tell you what's wrong. Call a shop in your area and find out what they charge to look at it. Around here it's $35 to diagnose and then if you decide to repair it the $35 goes towards the repair, if not then you pay the $35 and take the unit home unrepaired.

Not trying to sound like a jerk, but even if someone could hold your hand thru some testing procedure's, do you have any electronics knowledge or measuring equipment? Decide if you want it repaired or as Dan said, move on up.

"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. $35 diagnostic fee! that's unheard of in CA. Easily $90 to $100 around here.

+1 on the advice. Time to let it go and get yourself a dedicated 2-channel pre. You may end up getting a lot of money tied up in trying to get it fixed and who knows if other components are damaged now......
