Anyone heard much about this series coming to AMC in October?

http://media.tv.ign.com/media/025/025810/imgs_1.html

Looks pretty intriguing for us zombie film loving folks, and apparently they're going to focus on building a good group of characters, their survival, and the slow erosion of their humanity.

I'm considering adding cable back to my bill list for a couple of months for this one as it's only supposed to be 6 episodes if I recall correctly.

The cast:

Hell's yeah!!! They're actually filming it here in Atlanta (since that's where the graphic novels take place). They've been calling for extras, but that requires about one week of "zombie school" and a very flexible schedule. If I had the freakin' time, I'd be all over it. I've done the zombie extra thing in the past and it is an absolute riot.

You do realize that the same guy (Frank Darabont) who directed Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile is writing and directing this series? Should be quality.

I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Absolutely Zombie. Frank Derabond, who in my mind directed all of the Stephen King adapations worth watching.

Haha, being an extra sounds AWESOME. That's almost worth taking a few days off for, but a week I just couldn't justify...If I was in college I'd be all over it though.

    Definitely looking forward to this.

Yeah... it's a definite week just for the "training". And then you're pretty much on-call at any given moment. Either way... I'll probably make my way downtown and try to catch some of the filming. From all accounts, this looks to be exceptionally well done.

And if you get the chance, go and pick up the graphic novels. They are awesome.

Outstanding start to Season 3! I love that Carl is getting into the action with everyone. Minus Rick's wife, everyone looks to have developed an **** kicking survival instinct. Can't wait to see more of Michonne. Love the two walkers she keeps chained up.
    No excuses!

Just stick with it. Season 2 will drag for a bit but the beginning of 3 makes up for it.

This is what i DON'T want. It's a semi serious show and by adding in a dumb character with a sword and what might be her brothers chained together walking around trying to be bad **** just means the writers gave up. I hope she dies early

I remember there was a discussion at the end of Season two where someone said this show is based off a graphic novel and is following the book quite well. The introduction of the sword swinging character is just part it.

    yes, no, ??

Yaeh. The 2 zombies are her boyfriend and his best friend according to the book. Carl killed Shane in the book. Also Daryl & Mearle were in invented for TV.

Robert Kirkman and Glen Mazzara have said that the show will intentionally veer from the comics to a certain extent, just to keep people guessing what might happen. Shane was a good example, since I think he died very early in the comics.

I thought it worked, but obviously a lot of script constructs can work in a fictional, adapted-for-television story.

I hate to say this but... the comics go into some REALLY dark directions that would never be able to be shown on cable television. Especially in regards to The Governor storyline coming up. Kirkman has already stated that he will be toning it down to an extent.

Either way... I love the show and I love the comics. And they are just different enough from each other to both stay fresh.

I think Michonne must have been the easiest role to cast of any character in any TV show ever. "Scowl into the camera. Ok, scowl to your left. To your right. Stand there and say nothing. Perfect, you're hired!"

Episode 3 was rather meh compared to the first 2 episodes of season 3. I hope they get back to the prison soon......

Agreed. I understand the building of anticipation, but holy moly, for an entire episode? Lame. We all wanted to know how the crew was doing back at the prison. I think cutting back and forth between the new camp and Rick's crew would have made it a better episode.

Agreed 100% bud. Give me something in regards to the prison. Anything at all would have done. I just hope the next episode isn't more of the same.

Though I did enjoy seeing Merle back in the game. It can't be long before the 2 groups meet, and we get some serious conflicts going with Merle v/s Darryl and Rick. Will Darryl's allegiances be tested? I doubt it, but it's fun to think about.
