My cables from this guy just showed up and to my surprise, there were 2 pairs of them inside the package :)

Not sure if they are real or fake but the terminations seem very sturdy and solid. The casing says MIT exp3 1 foot. Has me a bit confused because they are 3 foot cables and it says it 3 times. Not sure if thats how they come or not but I will hook them up shortly to see how they sound or if my system blows up.

Well after more exploration of the 2nd pair of cables the guy sent me they say:

MIT exp3 ofc Twisted Pair Audio Interface One Foot

Obviously they seem like fakes or something spliced together from a longer pair. The most noticable thing seems to be that this most likely was a longer pair that was cut down and re-terminated because when you tear a pair of RCA's apart and get that little plastic lip that was holding them together on one cable, that lip goes all the way into the tip.

If they are fakes however, I deem them pretty good anyways. When you unscrew the tips to reveal the connections inside they are soldered and seem very sturdy. For 11 dollars (including shipping for 2 pair) I can't complain at all. They sound just fine and the ends fit the amp and receiver a bit tighter than the audioquest g-snakes I have. But then again, the g-snakes could be a fake as well... but what is fake and what is real if they both play music and make the LSI's sound good?

All of my MIT's are the same, it notes every one foot section. At least you got something!

Guess we will wait and see if anyone else does..

BTW, did they come in original packaging? Because he said he had it and that these were new.

A further update. I measured these cables and they are exactly 1 meter. The listing for the pair I bought claimed that they were 22 inches (1/2 meter) Brand New and for 1 pair... Well I got 2 pairs at a meter each but they are clearly used. I seem to be the lucky one so far and hope the rest get their cables soon.

MIT doesn't sell 1/2 meter cables. They start at 1 meter.

Well don't you think we should let Nick have some time with them and let them settle in?

Also Nick has Audioquest cables, these are his first MIT cables.

As larry stated, I haven't had any experience with MIT other than what larry was running a few weeks ago before his mega-load came in. As a mater of fact I hardly have any experience with interconnects at all because I just recently made this upgrade. As far as a sonic difference goes, the volume levels seem to be the same as my audioquest cables and I am battling a cold right now in which my ears feel like they need to pop so nothing sounds the same right now. All I know is that 2 pairs of 1 meter well built cables whether real or fake was a heck of a deal. It's so hard to tell the difference sonically between cables anyways when you are swapping crap around and playing them at different times and what-not. And don't read that last sentence as me saying that cables don't make a difference I believe they do but when comparing 2 cables that should be very much the same sonically they wont be a night and day difference... however I bet if I stepped it up and bought something for a few hundred and let them burn in I could tell the difference.

I always remember 5 -8 years ago I had a consulting gig in Manhattan, and on my way to ground zero, I got off the subway in Chinatown and bought a $20 "Rolex". Soon after there was an article on fakes where, I think Versase, was quoted as saying they did not chase fakes since those who bought fakes could never appreciate nor would buy the real thing.

For someone who claims cables make no difference, x sure has taken on a particular interest, suddenly.

Good to hear you finally got your cables and you're at the very minimum pleased with your purchase, grimmace.

have to agree on that one. If they care so much just buy them himself and do his own comparison.

also the jacket is stamped with the 1Ft EXP blah blah blah when I had mine and if it was spliced together you should be able to see a seem on them. It should also have the arrow of which way to connect for the signal to travel. Thats normal to have that writing on these.

Like here's the speaker cables for example...

There is an arrow for directional purposes but what I was implying was maybe these were say 3 meter cables made into pairs of 1 meter. I guess I truly don't know what else to look for as far as spotting a fake in this instance. They sound great so I'm not going to question them... now who wants to buy my extra pair for 40 bucks? ;)

You can have almost anything made from MIT, you just have to ask and pay for it. I had Oracle level binding post jumpers made a few years ago that are pretty cool. I'm not alluding to the fact that these eBay cables are real or not, don't care....just saying.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
