So, I got offered a job to me a senior electronics sales person at my local sears meaning I will be the sort of right hand manager in my electronics....I will have management over associates in this department and but act like I am a sales person....
I forgot to ask about pay and commission...
I currently make 8.35 at Kmart being a hard lines manager....
Should I switch over or not? I do not know what I make percent wise off each item and am not sure if I should go over to sears....
would this be a step up or step down....
Opinions?

Not sure what Sears offers for pay or benefits but kmart or any other company paying $8.35 an hr for a manager of any kind should be a crime IMHO unless perhaps your living in a 3rd world country. After your burns go away you should be able to do better mowing lawns.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Well benefits will be the same.
The y are both under Sears holdings corporation....so I wasn't worried about that. They said it was as simple as putting in my two weeks, and after my two weeks just working at sears my pay check will go as it did while at kmart and my discount will stay the same...I will just be working at sears wearing blue instead of red....
Just was hoping someone maybe has worked there and has some input or what not....I plan on getting an interview tomorrow....but was hoping someone here could load me up with some info so I don't get smashed or go in all blind and stuff.

I know at my local sears sales associates work strictly on commission so that means if you spent an hour trying to sell someone a $49.95 cordless phone you would make approx 73 cents for your efforts, maybe the homeless beggars have the right idea after all :p I could understand a very low base wage if the average commissions were high enough but it's sounding like to me to be a dead end job.

+1,000,000. This is imply abusive, even a simple worker should get better than that

Time to move on, unless you think you are not worth more than that? How much abuse can you take? Make sure you know exactly what Sears pay before you move their, you don't want to trade 4 quarters for a loony. Do your homework and get acquainted with a manager pay rate before you meet with Sears.

I guess google is every countries friend right ;) Nothing wrong having someone to do a little search but OK, here is the freebee :D

One problem, Canadian $ is still of lower value than US $ so PC, you might want to ask for even more $$$$$ if considering Canuck $$$$$$$$$$ ;)

Use to work for sear in the electronics. Do not take it, you work on commission you get hammared to sell the warranties and if someone returns something you lose that commission so you could walk in already in the negatives.

You also get bonuses for selling this product over this one and bla bla bla. I honestly hated it. Just my outlook on it working for them for 8 months. Than left.

    It's a Canadian right?:p:D

PC, if they are paying a manager those kind of wages, how far up can it possibly go? I know jobs don't grow on trees, but if you enjoy electronic sales, bide your time for a while and get a couple years under your belt as a manager. It will look much better to your next employer, and make you worth more from the get go.

    Good luck.

Yeah, I honestly have no clue what the pay is. My job is just boring as of late, they have made so many changes lately it has turned me off of a job I once loved to do.
SO fare the changes went from our own store making the schedule to a computer doing it based in scores from compiance reviews, and quizes on information talked about during videos we have watched.
Our break system has changed as well...we used to get the best breaks anywhere you went
This is how my 8 hour day would go.
Work 2 hours, 15 minute break....work 2 hours...1 hour lunch work 2 hours 15 minute break....then work the rest of what was left.... for my 8 hour day.
No we get a 15minute break and a half hour lunch for an 8 hour day....
All thanks to corporate. Plus we are a smaller store and live in a small area but are still compared to much larger areas like ones in say a huge city like New York.
I am always getting yelled at for my associates not meeting quotas that these other stores hammer out of the park, and have almost lost my job twice because of it.
    I mean, I wouldn't mind staying....but if something better came along, I wouldn't miss going....You know...?
I have 2 years as a cashier as kmart and almost a year as a manager...so that's about 3 years with the company. Hardly any raises at all.
I don't know if it is just strait commission...I will walk away and never look back. But if you make like minimum wage and commission I wouldn't care much I guess....I am a pretty decent sales person...

Oh, looked around and I have a some loonies and a couple 2 dollar coins from my last trip to canada....ha...I can really just spit on my lawn and it will land in canada, I practically live on the border.

Stores don't have to pay more than minimum wage, even though minimum wage is considered poverty.
If you take in consideration average minimum wage, and average bills, what you have left is below the poverty level.

You don't take a manger's position at minimum wage. As strickly a sale person, I could see minmum wage combined with healthy commission on what you sell but mannager's position at minimum wage :confused: Get a real job PC ;)

Well, I currently have earned half of my degree, I have 2 years done in Criminal Justice. Another 2-3 years left depending on how many summer classes I can take next summer. So I am in school, its just living in such a small area jobs are few and far between, and pay is even worse. I talked with a guy who has my job in a larger city in Iowa, and he gets paid almost twice as much as I do and has his own office...I was like...WHAT?!!
