The thought of this is truly frightening, although I don't know what the likelihood of it actually occurring might be. Let's hope it's incredibly unlikely.

He failed to mention every plane over the area as well.

Well, since the author of that article has also put his signature to a lengthy blurb, just a few days ago, advocating it's Time to Consider Secession, and yet another describing how watching television can kill you, I'm not sure I value his opinions very much. He seems more interested in sensational headlines than scientific investigation.

    What's wrong with secession?

Nothing whatsoever, if it's considered in a rational manner. This author seems to prefer sensational titles as a method to grab attention, so it doesn't improve his credibility.

Somewhat agree, then again, the Enquire mag. is full of stories like that, but they occasionally get one right, like the Tiger Woods story. So completely debuking the story ?? Maybe worth a more detailed look to confirm from other sources though. Whats even more interesting is if our government knew this, and still gave them the OK to drill, what does that say?

He also seems to have written an article claiming that North Korea is responsible for the accident on Deepwater Horizon, and that it will lead to World War III. Even a clock that isn't working is right twice a day.

Ok, so I didn't do a credibility check on the author... :p:o Actually, I didn't even know much about the website, so I just read this: http://www.helium.com/content/whatishelium. Actually, I don't get this site at all... It kinda seems like 5 different authors for that same or similar article. Yeah, so this is more than likely bunko, despite their slogan, Where Knowledge Rules.

What are those five articles about?

One of the contributors to this theory is Dr Makai. Apparently, one of those global kind of dudes with his hand into everything thats global, climate change, and so on.BIO of this guy: [link to www.huffingtonpost.com]

DK Matai is an engineer turned entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist with a keen interest in the well being of global society. DK founded mi2g in 1995, the global risk specialists, in London, UK, whilst developing simulations for his PhD at Imperial College. DK helped found ATCA – The Asymmetric Threats Contingency Alliance – in 2001, a philanthropic expert initiative to address complex global challenges through Socratic dialogue and joint executive action to build a wisdom based global economy. ATCA addresses opportunities and threats arising from climate chaos, radical poverty, organised crime, extremism, informatics, nanotechnology, robotics, genetics, artificial intelligence and financial systems. ATCA has 5,000+ distinguished members from over 100 countries: including several from the House of Lords, House of Commons, EU Parliament, US Congress & Senate, G10's Senior Government officials and over 1,500 CEOs from financial institutions, scientific corporates, NGOs and 750+ Profs from academic centres of excellence.

Philanthropy – DK co-founded The Philanthropia in 2005 – to include the Trinity Club, Syndicates and Ethical Investment Funds – with 1,000 leading philanthropists, family offices, foundations, private banks, NGOs and specialist advisors to resolve complex global challenges through collaborative & sustained efforts. DK’s other voluntary interests are Sant Bani (Voice of Saints), a culturally diverse fellowship dedicated to the unity of humankind; The Shirley Foundation; Oxford Internet Institute at University of Oxford; Tomorrow’s Company and The Trinity Forum, where he advises on a pro bono basis.

I'm tending to lean towards the side of B.S. on this one.

Well done, Kex. There are so many people today saying so much "stuff," and with little or no substance to back their stuff up. I really appreciate people who are committed to truth and who thus take the time to check 'em out.

I have thought on a scary scenario. Suppose a strong Atlantic hurricane made it into the gulf with some intensity. I wonder if it would be possible to pick up some of the oil suspended in the water and disperse it over land? Could you imagine a 50 mile wide swath of oily film coating everything exposed? I don't know how the oil would affect evaporation rates, but if the oil could be picked up in the strong inflows of hurricane, wherever it deposited them would likely be a disgusting mess.

Well considering it is hurricane season, and the oil will still be there gushing away, you can bet on it spreading it around inland. Maybe now would be a good time to invest in a carwash down there.:)

Oil could spread over THOUSNDS of miles if the right storm got ahold of it, like Katrina. I have a feeling that this is what they are waiting for to get it cleaned up.

I've heard it said that a hurricane would disperse the oil better than anything they're using now. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but the implication was that it would help the Gulf ecosystem to recover more quickly.

Probably true...but then you have oil spread out over homes, buisnesses, parks,schools.....and the big cheese will ask for another 20 billion to clean that up, and....the leak will still not be stopped. A continued cycle, oil, water, hurricane, mess, repeat again untill september.
