No one knows what was the 3rd disallowed goal reason. Can the US file a formal protest? I am so effin pissed.

Not really. If they win against Algeria and England beats Slovenia they are through.

They can complain, but it won't change the result.

I cant see america ever winning the cup until another 20 years

Brazil, italy , france , germany and argentina are too ahead in talent . All there world cup squads are hand picked super stars from amazing teams . Try watching the european cup and you get an idea of exactly what we are up against

Has any of you guys actually watched an italian soccer match !! Them guys just walk around with the ball and lob amazing top corner shots at the goal from the half way line

What we have to do for us to be kings of soccer is pay a shizz load of money and buy up all of europe's best soccer stars . If we did this they would develope our home grown talent much faster and better

Well I dont think beckhams a good comparison .... he was only good for free kicks when there was a foul near the goal and when I say soccer stars I dont just mean the players . The coaching is the most important aspect of building a good team

Great comeback aside (only fifth time EVER under those circumstances), I'm royally pissed.
I just read that would have been the FIRST time ever that a team came back from an 0-2 halftime deficit to win 3-2.

Feels like we just got robbed of a Perfect Game, no?
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Worst call I've seen in the WC in a long time. Not to the level of Diego Maradona's "hand of God" goal against England, but pretty d@mn close in my book.

Granted our D was porous, but that blown call was simply inexcusable....NO ONE was offside, and if there was a foul on anyone, it was Slovenia....disappointing.

Did the line referee raise the flag for offside? I didn't see that. I called for a slo-mo replay...

If that South African keeper got a red card for his play on Wednesday, then that one play where Josey was taken down just outside the box deserved equal treatment.

When the ref won't tell the players what the call was something ain't right!

Congrats to the US team for really pulling back out of their rut and kicking some butt on the field. They did an awesome job. Very exciting game. Shame that there was a poor ref.

Ok. I said that assuming England was going to beat Algeria today. Since they tied, here are the possible scenarios for the U.S. to go through to the next round:

-U.S. beats Algeria. 5 points will take them through.
-U.S. ties with Algeria, and Slovenia beats England.
-U.S. ties with Algeria, Slovenia ties with England, U.S has goals advantage over England.

Well, just saw the replay... I don't know what to say about the call. It seems to have been terrible. But, what were we doing falling behind 2-0 at the half to Slovenia?? This team really needs to take a look at itself and address the deficiencies that led to them being down by 2 goals. The second half apparently showed their potential. Here's hoping they come out strong and finish strong in the next game!

Ever heard of the NASL? Granted, the big stars were a tad over the hill, but still Beckenbauer, Chinaglia, Cruyff, Pete Best.... those were the Hall of Fame Euro superstars plus Pele. Problem was, the league was disorganized and they threw money they didn't have at these big names, and went bust.

When the U.S. league can pay super athletes like Kobe Bryant and Grant Hill the same kind of $ they can make at basketball, then they'll go pro in their 1st love sport- soccer. It's coming, just slowly. The sport has to generate enough fan interest at the pro level to attract big sponsorship and TV money.
Games like today are exactly the ticket for that, it was really a great comeback.
Well Englands going to win against slovenia thats for sure

Nothing's for sure, it's all to play for. England thought all they had to do was show up. Now they're looking for a plane ticket home. Plus, their Italian coach is a ramrod and I think they've had a gutful of him.
If they play the way against Slovenia that they did today, they'll get scorched. They looked slow, sloppy, and ready to give up like they were out all night before nightclubbing.
I've never seen Wayne Rooney look so pitiful. Emile Heskey of all people was the only one working his butt off.
Those Slovenians bring their A game every time and hats off to them. Tiny country, big team.

    Wes[/QUOTE]

Thats a B.S. Fifa rule. Kinda opens the games up to be fixed. Could you imagine if we had that rule in football ? Your team scores a touchdown and the ref blows the whistle, calls a penalty, but doesn't have to say on who??
Takes away from the credability of the sport imho.

That aside, this world cup is wide open. Argentina was my dark horse pick and they seem to be doing well. All the major big players, like Spain,France,Brazil, Italy, have some work cut out for them. Must say though, after watching Brazil, those guys can give lessons on how to pass the ball to the rest of the teams. Just fun to watch how accurate they are passing. They make it seem so effortless.
