Possible move to all LSi speakers

I've been kicking this notion around for a little while now. Since I have been running the LSi/FX speakers for a few years now I've really come to appreciate how well they sound. I've had my ears on the 15's & was very impressed with them. And since I'm heading in the HT direction more & more I'm thinking that a full blown set of LSi speakers would be a great way to go. Not to mention the savings on not having to buy the surrounds.
My only drawback is how much I love my AAD 2001 monitors. I know you guys like to change out speakers to get a feel for other sounds. I'll probably bring a pair of the 15's home for a demo in my system to see if they'll convince me to make the switch. Damn, this ids going to be a tough one. For what I can sell my AAD's for, I can pickup the 15's & the LSiC so it's not realy a money issue. And yes I have plenty of power to make them dance.

I definitely think that LSi's are the way to go as long as you have a good amp to drive them.

I just went through the emotional and physical upgrade.I was running some older Polks with the tri-laminate tweeters with matching center and surrounds.I now have the 15's,lsic and 9's which are still being broken in.It was not the budget as much as the "letting go" of the proven and trusty.I am still doing mental comparisons between the two systems.It is hard to knock the 15's as everybody on this board knows.I found some Lsi/Fx's for a great price and await a phone call as we speak.Regards, Eddie

If you have the bucks - pick up the LSi's (preferably on the used market) before you sell the AAD's - Then keep the set that you enjoy listening to the most.
I really like my LSi setup and look forward to modding my 15's (crossover and woofer upgrades hopefully this year) - but they are not for everyone. I do not know what the AAD's sound like, (laid back, detailed, brite, etc.) but there is a good chance that all your gear has pretty good synergy with the AAD's.
You may get the 15's and if the synergy is not there - you may want to dump them rather than upgrade all your electronics as well. Just something else to keep in mind.

Phil there is no way the LSiC is going to outperform your AAD center! As far as the AAD 2001s go well, the 15s are really going to have to do some dancing to beat them. Why aren't you going for the LSi 25s?

Joe, the 25's add more IC's & PC's...I'd like to avoid the extra cabling. Besides, Stephen has the 15's that I can take home & audition. I'm not ready to pull the trigger just yet...but I'm seriously staggering on the fence!

Dan, why do you think I'll not like the 15's? I think the LSi/FX sound superb...isn't that a small taste as to how the 15's sound?
I've had my ears on almost the whole Totem line at Stephens Quest for Sound store in Bensalem...fantastic sounding speakers. As far as the Raimmakers go...well to my ears they pale in comparison to my AAD's. Pretty much why I bought them, they smoked everything I had listened to. That's why I'm a bit hesitant about letting them go. But I do feel I'm due for a change, if that even makes any sense!

Mantis just discovered Totem, after 6 years of being talked about here, it's like a kid with a shiny new flashlight.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -

Nope, he only carries the 15's. He really likes them! That's where I listened to them, my impression is very positive towards them. Very laid back & silky smooth. Unfortunately, that's where a lot of reviews and opinions get skewed IMO, and disappointment for some that take them at face value is sure to follow. I'm starting to nurture a healthy mistrust of glowing reviews, wherever they may come from!... it's like a kid with a shiny new flashlight.Alea jacta est! -

I remember listening to the 15s but I thought for sure the 25s were right next to them. Are you sure? It was when we were listening to the Hyperions at one of his shows. -

Okay Phil. I just remember there being another pair of LSi's next to the 15s. I guess I just didn't look closely enough at them. I guess I also didn't think it made sense to have two pairs of 15 right next to each other. Oh well, good memory Phil. -

Actually I discovered them back in 2001 at World Wide Stereo and Video. We picked up the line several months ago and they blow away everything we got in their price class and more.
I have always liked Totem . pearsall001 came to my store during our Swap sale. He's a real cool guy and I got to learn what he likes and not. I don't think the Lsi's are going to make him happy considering what he already owns. I also think he should check out Definitive Technology Mythos series as they might even be the perfect fit.

I would love to see polk bring out a better Lsi line. I felt the Lsi's where their best sounding speakers they ever made. If Totem can make speakers sound the way they do , polk should be able to do an even better job considering the size of the company compared.
I'd like to see a full wood cabinet offering in many different finishes , no powered towers and the best mid range ever. Cut the crossover in all models so they don't try to play lower then they should. I'd rather them fall of and be clean then play lower and loose.

I welcome anyone to bring their speakers to my Lab and demo them against anything we carry. The Totem line already got demo'd against the Lsi 9's and the Lsi9's got embarrassed. Just ask the owner of them who brought them in. Even the entry level Dreamcatchers really did a number on the Lsi's. It was a shame.
New is New and is very nice and juicy but if the given "NEW" doesn't perform it means nothing. If someone is going to buy something from a review then they deserve to get disappointed. I could love the way a speaker sounds and someone else could hate it. It's to personal to decide on someone else's ears. Thats why I strongly suggest you bringing your speakers in and listen for yourself. Listen in the same room on the same gear with the same music. You be the judge.
Personally I think Totem speakers are one of the very best sounding speakers I have ever heard. I have heard just about everything made. But that doesn't mean go buy them without experiencing them for yourself. Now as a Professional , I decide on what speakers someone should own on a daily basis. I listen to their needs , what kind of music and movies they enjoy and spec a system off of that. I usually hit a home run as I have yet to have a customer question the system after it's been installed in their home. It's usually jumping around and smiles , sometimes tears of joy which almost makes me cry LOL.
