That looks like a great shot by that Police Officer. Well done IMO: no more free rides to fame for the thrill seekers. They should make him clean all the bathrooms in that stadium (especially after every game) for the next two months.

(I just don't find field runners in the least bit amusing.)

The comments from the cnn link (after the first couple) are spot on. The kid deserved to get tasered.

It was either a non-leathal tasing, or having 2-3 large guys tackling him and risking broken bones, torn ligaments, sprains, etc.

Nuts to that, start using rubber pellets!

I can't agree that tasers are non-lethal. Nor do I see anyone's health at risk before the tasing. I can't condone this.

Wow. Ace if you don't want to get tased stay in your damn set and not running around the field. SIMPLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So sick of bleeding hearts saying what they could or would do. Put a badge on and you go chase the guy then. You can shot him with rubber bands, throw chewing gum, boomerangs, nets or shoot spider webs that come out of your hands.

What if the guy had a weapon or injured one of the players, groundsmen or fans then I am sure you would be saying "why didn't the police take care of the problem when they had a chance".

I am sure you would make a great juror.

That statement is EXACTLY why people aren't in prison.

I've seen videos of a cop sharp enough not to shoot a woman who pointed her cell phone at him. After a bunch of cruisers chased her around the city, he's got the presence of min to yell to the other officers "don't shoot, it's a cell phone".

Now a 17 year old kid does what plenty have done before him, and he gets tased for it.

He didn't have a weapon, so your point is moot. If he grabbed a bat, go ahead, be my guest and tase him.

He's not a threat to anyone's health, that's obvious. Then the officer creates one by tasing him.

Honestly, how long do you think he can run for before getting tired?

Very surprised not to see my neighbors face as the **** laying on the ground.
The scum bag neighbor I'm referring to should be tassered daily for just coming out of his house....He's absolutely the lowest lifeform I've met in my entire lifetime. He would be the guy interrupting everyone's game for his own enjoyment/**** and tell you to stick it if you complained...he was probably there at that game. Shame for him, maybe next time.

NOT the point. It is made clear before each game that no-one under any circumstances are permitted to set foot on the field PERIOD. Besides how long should they have delayed the game for some jerk off to get his idiotic, probably drunken jollys out to wait until he gets tired.

That guy deserved what he got. BTW would you have rather the staff take a leaping tackle at the guy and risk injury to themselves because of some idiot. . . I think not. Not to mention the injury to the idiot even though I don't care about him getting injured. He and a few other's are what gives Philly it's bad rap and I'd like to see him charged with a fine and few weeks in the pokey!

I thought stun guns were illegal in the city of Philadelphia!

p.s. Yes, I was joking about the rubber pellets. Although, maybe we could get the ok to start tossing concussion grenades at field runners. ;)

edit: I know they're definitely illegal for citizens, but I'm thinking law enforcement would have restriceted use as well.

I posted it because I thought it was freakin' hilarious! I couldn't care less if it was overkill or not.

Did the kid deserve it? Yeah, he did. He is causing a disturbance that has the potential to incite others in the crowd for further shenanigans until someone gets injured or killed. End it as soon as possible. If the kid is running around, evading staff and officers as well as resisting arrest then stick him with the juice and incapacitate him.

Does the kid deserve to be strung up in the town square? No, he doesn't. He was **** around. It's what kids do. Slap him with a fine and some community service and be done with it. He's going to pay for the rest of his life with in because on job apps where its says "Have you ever been convicted of a crime? Yes No" if he circles Yes, he's screwed. If he circles No and they find out he lied, he's even more screwed. His "Once in a lifetime thing has turned into a lifetime worth of getting bit in the butt by it.

If anything, I blame the parents. And if you are a parent, you should be explaining to your crotch fruit the ramifications of such things. Especially if you are like Captain Stupendously Stoopid there and have a cherry student career at one of the premiere state schools in the country. He might find out that Penn State no longer wants him.

At the minimum, did he really think that his stunt would end well?

A taser is very non-leathal and non-injuring especially for someone that kid's age. I remember one time at a football game the cops and staff couldn't catch this streaker. In the end one of the players flat-out speared his ****.

I guarantee you that at that moment, the streaker was wishing someone had tasered him instead.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I've always understood getting tased is pretty severe. Granted, the dude is a complete idiot. But security has been tackling these sort of buffoons for decades. Hell... if I remember correctly, there have been a few instances where one of the players has taken someone down.

I just think it kinds of stands to common sense that the kid wasn't going to hurt anybody. And I think this sort of action has a set a pretty well-established pattern of there being no real danger to anyone else. Or at least the kind of "danger" that would warrant a full on tasing.

Trust me... I don't feel bad for the kid. I just think it was overkill.

And I'm with Jstas. It's funny as hell. But I'm kind of a sicko...

Very well put. One thing to note is that he should be tried as a minor, and thus this shouldn't go on his permanent record when he hits 18. Unless they decide to try him as an adult...

If he's tried as a minor this will be an opportunity for him to learn something.
