Is the sub turned on in the menus of the Yamaha and the crossover points setup correctly with the mains set as small?

Can I hook it up to one of the main pre outs without disconnecting the speaker or will I get that housafire that I asked for?

for that you must check the manual. Some explicitly say no...

Did you switch out the sub cable?

Did you make sure the sub is on? (I have done this before...)

Did you make sure you are plugged into the SUB1 and not the SUB2 output on the yamaha?

Did you make sure the sub volume is turned up in the receiver?

Did you run YPAO and see if it senses a sub?
