Going to give this a try with the La300-mea8box3dvmvvk.jpg

Power tubes are Russian 6C33's by the looks of the photo. I don't believe there is another tube equivalent. BAT uses those as power tubes.

Be Aware - The 6C33 Russian tube is another that has no Western OR Chinese sub. NOS Russian versions are the best, but are scarce and expensive. Versions that should work interchangably are the 6C33B, 6C33C, and the 6C18C, but check with your equipment dealer first!

My brother had a huge stash of them when he bought Ted's (Reeeltrouble) BAT VK60 mono's. He has since sold them all. This was about 4 years ago. Have no idea what the market is now ofr the 6C33, BAT charged an arm and a leg for them!!

All the tube talk here on the forum makes for good times. I love the pass lab amp and will keep but the test of tubes was too good to pass up at the price.

I will offer up a first watt aleph j amp soon to the group.

Have you checked the current market availability of the 6C33 power tube?

Looks like they go for about $30 a tube in lots of 4 on Ebay. Supposedly NOS, but ..... seller is "The Russian Federation" with delivery estimate in months.

I, eh .... don't know how you feel about gambling.

Those are 6C33c-b, not 6C33. Not sure of the differences but make sure yours can use them. I just wanted him to be aware. The quote I posted earlier is straight from Brent Jesse's tube site. Those are most likely new stock and not the cold war NOS versions which are supposed to be superior. I would also only buy from a reputable dealer as when these fail, they fail spectacularly. There is lots of Russian "junk" on Ebay. Rarely will I recommend a dealer for a tube, but in this case it might be prudent.

On the flip side the 6C33 is extremely long life compared to other power tubes in an audio application. They were originally used as rectifiers in Russian Migs and can almost withstand a nuclear holocaust...........almost...lol

Just do your due diligence is all I'm recommending. I did not see any NOS 6C33's for sale on EBAY.

Anyone selling a NOS tube for 30 bucks should draw a red flag immediately. Main tubes anyway, power supply NOS tubes are still cheap and numerous.

He is shipping the amp mid next week. had to wait for check to clear and then the job of packaging. I hope to have them maybe next Friday if I am lucky. Picked up the package for 2K so I can't really complain about the time. It should be well worth the wait. I am really impressed with this slp05 and pass combination after swapping some tubes around.
