I'm going to need a blow torch to correct the base issue. Sad I overlooked that minor issue this entire time.

I gave it a quick hour of run time for now. I'll give it a workout tomorrow during "daddy's beer time".

I plug everything into the Peachtree. Its the core man...THE CORE!!!

Oh crap the base is backwards!!... Guess I'll have to start over.

    LOL Bottlehead humor.....

Kewl beans! Sometimes inexpensive and even mid range price volume pots don't balance volume for both channels equally well at lower levels anyway. Like a balance control, one channel will become slightly louder to shift center image. Cure for that is go resistor ladder network, but that can some mild to wild pricing.

It took me a little over 7hours to de-solder everything to get the base issue corrected. My wife asked why I couldn't just spin the base?...*snicker* women are so silly...... :D

I wish I could/would have painted the socket white as well. Its really bothering me.

Good move and hours well spent. You do realize the Crack only sounds good if it is soldered correctly inline with the logo. Sounds like AM radio if it's not done right.

    Looking good! Nice job!

Now remember all those caps need some burn in time, so time to get your ears on for at least a good 100 hours ;)

    Looks great!

No guts no glory...you can remove the socket cover easy enough and detail it. That's why I left mine au naturel, just for a little shiny stuff among the black panel.

I really dared the Bottlehead badge sound quality gods by placing mine flat on the top left corner of panel. I think it's a first, but I haven't seen pics of all BH builds. ;)

input on left, volume in middle, jack on right. Hope to figure out how to take out the 12AU7 and use a 6SN7 instead. Might move the on/off down the chassis about 1/2 way also.

    Always gotta go to extremes....lol

I'm gonna buy something for a change. Parks Audio SUT w/Blue CineMag trannies. Reasonably priced compared to some ($339 shipped). Wired 1:9 & 1:18 (instead of 1:18 & 1:36). Too much gain with the Eros and my 1:18 & 1:36 SUT, even on low with my Ref 3. I don't want to take my DIY SUT apart, just leave it at 1:18 & 1:36. That worked perfect with your less gain Reduction/Integration. I'm sure I'll have a use for it again someday...

Here is my revised CineMag ground scheme. I got the extra enclosure from Carl pre-drilled with RCA holes. We did innie trannies. I built three, one for Carl, one for Larry, one for me. The 3440AH or blues can be wired for 1:9/1:18 or 1:18/1:36.

I used these DPDT On/On switches from Digikey, CKN1032-ND. Pricey (~$9 each), they were chosen for aesthetics, are sealed with gold plated contacts. Sealed and silver plated would also be good.

Looks like I hit preview instead of post!
All parts are in ...I think. Transformer is painted, bell polished. I still have some mods to make on the top plate. New holes for the 8 pin sockets and I need to drop the transformer down a bit to get the choke in.uet4ahhl9ldo.jpg

So, you still use all of the basic wiring from the original schematic and drop those oil drums in place the "puny" caps?

    What stepped attenuator is that?
Are you swapping out the cheapo binding posts for something more robust?

And where did you get those BLACK sockets!?!?! That is what i want for mine. I hate the white!!!! ROARRRRR!! AHHH!!!! VVVRRROOOOMMMM!!!

yep, most of the wiring will remain the same. the 12au7 is replaced with a 6sn7, but that's just a different pin-out at the socket.
    Attenuator is from Goldpoint.
    Binding posts are Vampire's.
The black sockets I only got to piss you off, I have no intention of actually using them.

Ok, just kidding. Parts Connexion has them.

Well, you did a good job at that. Now i'm angry that YOU didn't mention them a while ago when i was complaining about the white. You just want your BAC to look nicer than my simple crack. Selfish SOB! :p
