I've had a SACD player since 2001. I've had the same 3 SACDs for that long. When I rebuilt my system a couple months ago I bought about 20 new titles. I've barely had a chance to check them out but I do like the Globe Sessions/Crow and a James Taylor title.
Still, I'm thinking that I'll get more enjoyment if I put all my speaker budget in just a stereo pair.

My first sacd arrived today and there was a very noticeable difference over a regular cd. From what I heard, 2 channel sacd sounded great. I will purchase more titles soon.

I only have one SACD, the Dark Side of the Moon hybrid. Currently I don't have an SACD player, but it is on the list for one of my next purchases. There are a ton of titles that you can get for it. I don't think SACD is ever going to push CD's out of the market, but it'll be here to stay for me. I've got my eye on the Bob Dylan 16 disc hybrid SACD box set...I'll probably end up getting it before I even get a player though.

What's a good player in the 250-400 dollar range? I've been looking at the Onkyo DV-SP506...Seems like a nice one to me. It's also a 1080p upscaling DVD player as well. Is this a good one? Is there something in the same price category that's highly recommended?

Just crunched some numbers at sa-cd.net....

Despite the current worldwide economic situation, it's entirely possible to have over 600 new SACD released in 2008. As of this post, there were 595 new SACD releases added to sa-cd.net for 2008. With 2 weeks left in the year, it is entirely possible to achieve the "600" number.

For the record, the following was the total for each of the years....

    2004 - 891 (excluding January 2004)
    2005 - 806
    2006 - 757
    2007 - 517 (as of 9/20/07)

The total for 2007 was approximately 744.

Well hopefully they'll get to crankin some more out then and they can make 600 this year. I love the SACD format...even though I don't have a player yet, though I will soon. I don't wanna see them go anywhere.

The total at sa-cd.net, as of this post, stands at 5,599 titles. 600 new titles for 2008 is basically achieved. Don't forget that sa-cd.net doesn't list every SACD released, therefore the total number of SACD titles released are more than what's indicated at the site.

Let's see, some of the albums I've heard are good in SACD MC are DSOTM, Tommy (The Who) and Beck - Sea Change. I'm sure there's more that would sound good , I just haven't had much chance to do any serious listening yet. Oh and I havn't found 'Sea Change' at a reasonable price yet, but after hearing the reg CD version, I can only imagine.

In DVD-A I've read that the Beatles 'Love' album is pretty good as well.

Oh yeah- I forgot to add another awesome must-have Multi Channel disc:
Dire Straits -- Brothers In Arms - 20th Anniversary Edition in SACD Also avail in DVD-A.

There's lots of talk about the upcoming Oppo Blu-Ray player, which will also have SACD support.

The SACDs of Bob Dylan, like all other SACDs from US Sony, should be considered out-of-print. If you're interested in a US Sony title, get it before it's gone or go up in price.

I am not sure if this is a good sign for the future of SACD but I just picked up a new (cut-out) copy of Nora Jones "Come Away With Me" for only $9 in a new/used CD shop. The redbook CD version was $8 used.

I haven't had a chance to listen on my SACD player but I notice a big difference in SQ in my car CD player.
