The Pioneer Elite vsx-01txh or Denon 2809ci? price doesnt matter...if anyone has either of these receivers how do you like them, with your polk speakers. Im looking to get the a7s...input on ease of setting up and anything else you can give is very appreciated...Going to pull the trigger on one of these recievers this weekend...Thanks again for your help...

I have a Denon 2808 basically same as 2809 except new Audyessy volume and 2 more HDMI ports. Receiver before Denon was Pioneer.

Both will serve you well but if the price is the same I would get the Denon 2809 for Audyessy features.
Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)
Preamp: Joule Electra LA-150 MKII SE
Amp: Wright WPA 50-50 EAT KT88s
    Analog: Marantz TT-15S1 MBS Glider SL| Wright WPP100C Amperex BB 6er5 and 7316 & WPM-100 SUT
    Digital: Mac mini 2.3GHz dual-core i5 8g RAM 1.5 TB HDD Music Server Amarra (memory play) - USB - W4S DAC 2
Cables: Mits S3 IC and Spk cables| PS Audio PCs

I posted here about similar things and several people said the Elite vsx-01txh is an incredible receiver. I ended up going with the Marantz SR5003 but know that Marantz and Denon are owned by the same company and their products incorporate most of the same features.

With that said I'd go with the Denon. As the last poster said Audyssey is an incredible feature. However, as for sound I've been told you cant go wrong with either but I wouldn't know.. sorry.

Are you going to use an external amp or the amp inside the AVR to push the
    a7's?

i have a Denon 2809ci or sale if your interested, $865. Its a little over a month old. I love it, but found a deal on a 3808 i could not pass up :) But yeah go with the Denon...much nicer AVR. I've had the others and they are ok, but the 2809 IMO has better SQ. The Audyssey MultiEQ XT with 8 point calibration is also pretty clutch. The OSD is simple, but nice and easy to use. It has plenty of hookup and of course pre-outs and trigger outs for a future amp ;) The remote it comes with is also pretty cool and easy to use.

I'm new here, but an avid member on the emotiva lounge and av123 forums. But yeah anyway let me know if your interested.

if by chance you go with an Elite, go with a higher model like the SC-05. The 01 and 03 are ok, but they are essentially just the 1018 with Elite on the front plus trigger outs...

The Sc-05 has the newer ICE amps. Some like them, som dont but for a receiver they are probably some of the best internal amps currently available.

You must have a total post count of 25 (contribute to the other parts of the forum) before you can sell anything in the "For Sale (FS) Classifieds" or "Garage Sale" forums.

a helping hand? um if thats what you want to call it..

Sending me a PM saying that a "noob" like me should not post so much, is not exactly a helping hand. I said chill out. i did say i have a amp for sale, but my other posts have been informitive and not useless junk... you came back at me saying i lacked social skills for people to like me here... I did nothing wrong to you. A helping hand should be friendly advice, not cold warning without welcoming an individual... but whatever think what you want.

Exactly what I said to you,

"Posting a series of quick ones by a newbie, like yourself, is seriously frowned on. Slow down, enjoy the forum and let people get to know you."

    Exactly what you responded with,

    "chill out bro...its a forum..

Hint: My comment was friendly advice, you just didn't want to take it that way.

Perhaps, and pointing them out is certainly warranted. But really--we all need to be a little more thoughtful in how things are phrased when saying it. Stating that it's a 'flagrant violation' is a pretty strong statement don't you think?

Bigred is probably one of the biggest contributers at the Emo forums, I doubt he's a fly-by-night stop by Club Polk to see what he can offload, when he could just as easily avoided the grief and sold to those that already know and trust him. He has one of the highest seller/buyer ratings over there. And before anybody says 'he should have known better', EmotivaLounge does not have this rule inplace there.

All I'm saying is a little Benefit of the Doubt should be given before assuming wether or not an offending poster had malicious intent or not.

I wasn't encouraging anything in what I said. Word for word its true. Essentially no selling in the FS Forum until you have 25 posts. It doesn't say anything about mentioning something you have for sale in other parts of the forum-Of course there is some interpretation that could be made there, but really?!?. Sales or 'deals' are mentioned all the time outside of the FS forums. I mean I could just have easily mentioned the same exact sale and even provided a link to his sale at Emotivalounge or CL or eBay, etc, and it would have been perfectly fine and innocent then.

It is my opinion that the rule is a poorly written one, and serves no 'real' protective purpose-other than provide policy for the admins to delete offending posts. I seriously doubt the forum forefathers intended it to be a catapult for established members to start attacking/condemning new members for breaking it (and no that was not all about just this thread and was not directed at you Kex). I say leave the enforcement to the admins while established members "POLITELY" and "UNACCUSINGLY" remind the new members of the rules. After all it's always Buyer Beware right?

Bigred, stick around. After a bit of hazing and what not-you'll fit right in ;)

    Peace all

Hmmm...no social skills could be it. Or maybe stubborn? Wait, I got it. He doesn't really care about what people think about him, because he only came here to sell something? That could be it. I don't see any other reason that would make someone coming into a new social environment, open the door and start calling names.

My take too. Since he is an experienced and respected member over at the emo forum, he should know better than to post his for sale stuff in someone else's thread. I doubt he was unaware of the rules and this was his way of getting around them.

There is nothing wrong with an experienced member here offering some off-line advice to the new members - no one can be expected to check around at other sites to figure out what some newby is all about.

lol my goodness people. And i have never been part of a forum where your not allowed to offer a sale in a thread. Trying to get around the rules??? Are you kidding me? Yes i came over to this forum, JUST to break your rules that aren't even clearly stated..c'mon man. You people need to give me more credit than you are than to just go on making assumptions like you are. Yes i said i had a Denon for sale, but i also offered insight on the product he was interested in. did any of you think of that? No. You just go on trying to insinuate things that aren't true. And frankly being gang rushed like this is not very welcoming, when i have said several times already that i was sorry. I disagreed with one members way of contact with me. Can i have an opinion? seriously lay off.

And yes It just so happened the OP was looking at the same receiver i was selling. It would be a different case if i was trying to pawn off some random receiver that he was not interested in...So it WAS relevent to the topic..I really dont see the big deal, i said my apologies, its done.

And like i said, i have lingered in the background on this forum for some time now. How is that any different than the random polk guys over on the Emotiva forum? And i never said friendly advice was not welcome, but he was never friendly to begin with. Never said "Hey welcome to the forum!". From the get go he just assumed i was trying to unload random gear, so he had a preconceived judgement on me...

Again he has been a jerk to me thus far. I wouldnt have said that if he hadnt flamed me in a different thread, but he did so he obviously wasnt trying to welcome me.

Do you guys like speakers and electronics? Do any of you participate in other forums? Well i do, thats why i came here. Obviously it appeared otherwise because i offered the guy a sale. I can see where people can get defensive about this. But your assumptions about me are just not true.
