The Panny BD10A will not send 'Bitstream' to your 805, so you will never see TrueHD light up on your receiver. The 10A 'internally decodes' TrueHD and sends it out as Multi-channel PCM (over HDMI).

So, when you have a TrueHD disc in and everything is set right, the 805 will say "Multichannel". You will hear the same TrueHD, you just won't see it light up.

If you want that, you need the Panny BD30 or BD50, both of which can 'bitstream' the TrueHD, DTSHD Master, etc.

No, you didn't piss me off. I was just trying to urge you to just go for it. Its not as hard as it might seem and you don't have to worry about turning your receiver into a brick.

Also what is the big difference between the Pany 30 & the 50 when it comes out? Is it just the bd live stuff/ thanks

Make sure Re-master, V surround, Dialog Enhancer, Digital Filter settings are all set to OFF. (these are accessible through the onscreen menu which comes up when you press DISPLAY)

    In the Setup Menu

    Dynamic Range Compression-Off
    PCM Downconversion-Off
    DolbyDigital-Bitstream
    TrueHD-PCM
    DTS-Bitstream
    DTSHD-PCM
    BDVideo Function Sound-Off
Make sure HDMI Audio Output is on,
and of course, have the bluray hooked to the 805 with an HDMI ;)

    That should do it.

I believe the 10a internally decodes but doesn't bitstream. The 30 bitstreams but doesn't internally decode. The 50 does both and does the bd live stuff as well.

    That sums it up exactly.
