Every source drops out? Or only one source?

My digital cable drops out, but that's the cable companies fault. Other sources don't drop at all (I don't have a sony receiver either, just saying that it might not be the receiver).

It just went on sale about a week ago. I can tell you that Marantz is one of the best names in the industry, and my personal experience is that the service is terrific. Remember this is just a bad **** pre-amp so you need a separate amp (if I remember you had another thread and were considering a Rotel which would be fine).

If you're looking for something a bit less pricey, consider waiting for the new Onkyo TX-SR806, will have 5 HDMI in/ 1 out (v1.3a). It's an AVR, but I'd assume would work great as a preamp.

I have the 885 and really like it at this point. There were a couple of issues at first, but all have been corrected with new firmware. It is identical internally to the Integra 9.8, but adds a "Pure Direct" mode that the 9.8 lacks, and also comes with rack mounts included, they are optional on the 9.8.

If you want a pre with the new formats, so far there are only 4 choices I am aware of, the Denon AVP-1HD ($7500), the Marantz listed above, the Integra, and the Onkyo.

honestly, for price point and video processing the yamaha 1800, 3800, and the new Z7 which is due in next few months, is bang for buck, beats any oknyo or integra hands down,
marantz is also well renound but is a bit pricier,

    I rate it a solid 9.9 out of 10.

On what basis do you base this oppinion on?
I have owned a Marantz sr8001 receiver and now Onkyo pro.
The Onkyo pro is one of the best preamps I've ever had the pleasure to own.
