Home Made Tube Dampers

I heard of the idea of getting a tube of high-temp caulk/sealant from the hardware store, and running a bead or two of it around your tubes. They claim it dampens and withstands the heat. The "dampers" wouldn't be removeable, but if you don't care, does it matter? I'd love to hear your thoughts friends...

    Bad idea. Just buy tube dampers. They're too cheap to consider for DIY. Check ebay.
