I think I could actually go for a couple month's without buying any piece of gear. software of course is not gear.

can you go a month?

six month's without buying a piece of gear? :mad:

Is it possible for any of us to go a year even? :eek: :confused: :eek:

    I went about a year and then I held a polkfest and someone left his monoblocks with me for a couple weeks. That destroyed my plan and I had to buy them. So be careful hosting any gatherings :)

    I follow new technologies so as it goes I go. Usually 6 months and I'm ready for something. Longest I went was no change for over a year.

    What exactly do you mean by "gear"? CDP's and amps and stuff? Or anything audio related? Like tubes or cd's or cables.

    If its the latter. Probably no longer than a couple of weeks.

    Same boat here. Part of it has to do with turning over demonstration gear, other times it is to see how well I will be able to integrate the "new" piece into my lineup. I might go a month some times, but not very often.

    Im in the same boat, my current Rti setup should last me awhile. Im still eye-balling the B&W 802ds though. But Im just clutching the wallet with a kung -fu grip.

    It seems to go in cycles....

    I find myself selling "extra" gear for whatever reason, and buying more , just a few weeks to a month later

    I have some pretty solid stuff and it is breaking in nicely, but i have a habit of selling things shortly after they break in and settle down...!!

    Tubes,cables,etc....it`s a never ending type of thing....but it does slow down.......eventually !!

    I guess I could go up to six months without buying gear !!

    If I could go 2 weeks without buying something for my 2-channel rig or just to play around with, I'd be amazed at myself.

    It seems like it's weekly for me to grab something. However, it's taking me months to move excess gear which is getting annoying.

    i have had the same **** stuff for over a year now. oh crap I lied, I forgot about the plasma, well that is video not audio so I think its still a year and counting? come to think of it I bought a power cord off of Early last month, so I am out of this contest. OK I have not made a major purchase for an audio only item in more than a year, how's that?

    It's very difficult. I really wanted to get a pair of Von Schweikert VR1s with an Outlaw RR150 receiver for the room I am staying in but I just can't justify it. I am trying to learn discipline in this hobby from Cathy's fine example.:)
