Add amp to Onkyo 605?

Please forgive my novice question, but can I add an amplifier to an Onkyo 605? There do not seem to be any preouts on the back.
MAIN: Polk Lsi9s; Polk PSW505; Lsic (in box); Onkyo SR-875; Parasound 2250; Cambridge Audio 740C; LG BD370

    True, you can't. But look at the bright side!

    You got a great receiver for cheap, which means when you NEED more power or a new amp you won't be replacing a $1000 piece of equiptment.

    are there not any high voltage input home theatre amps? I know there are some car audio amps out there that you don't have to have pre-outs to use.

    Thanks for your comments. I just took the plunge and ordered a pair of Rti 10's. Will it help to bi-wire them? Or, should I start saving now for a better receiver?

    Probably won't help. Hook them up to your receiver and listen to what you think.
    Most people suggest more power for big speakers like the Rti10's. I haven't heard them from an 605 personally but I know they do require quite a bit of power.

    Or you could use something like the Carver Z5 coupler.

    you can still bi-AMP the RTi10's by using 2 sets of wire. One set into the FRONT ports on the receiver, and 1 into the unused surround SIDE ports.

    You get MUCH BETTER sound that way

    Thanks for the advice. I will definitely give bi-wiring a try before I consider upgrading my receiver. Will bi-wiring effectively give the front speakers more power?

    Maybe. But you have to realize that you are simply trying to ask for more power from the same amp that is already over stressed as it is.

    I suggest you watch the volume, you might risk having it go into protect mode & shutting down.

    Thanks for the advice. Received the Rti10s today. Decided to let them break in a little before bi-wiring them. While I believe that an amp would improve them, my initial impression is that I can be content without an amp, at least for a while. Of course I said that when I bought my r50's...
