I guess that ignorance is bliss. And if you can't see anything wrong with your post and what Limbaugh and Barkley said, I guess I am done. And I guess I am beginning to understand why in 2007 I still get looks like I received today. I'm done.

Federer is a machine! As a longtime Sampras fan its hard for me to say this, but it is starting to look inevitible that Federer will go on to win as many Grand Slam titles as he wants. Im afraid Sampras' 14 titles will be surpassed soon.

    Polsters,

Hey Serena Williams went down to the Austrialian Open this years and took Sharapova apart. She was ranked 81ST in the world and was unseeded, only one other women has done that. I really don't care for the racial ****, but like I said when they are at the top of their game, fit, focused and ready to play hardcore tennis they are very hard to beat and maybe unbeatable by any of the top women tennis players right now. Give me a player that at their top of their game and serena at the top of their game Serena could not beat, I don't think you can. Racial remarks and retoric aside.

No one is denying their accomplishments, the only negatives here have been about their attitudes or media saturation in the past. No one can deny or has denied their tennis abilities.

Yeah..Sharapova is hot and all...but I can't watch her play with the sound on...what is the deal with all the women SCREAMING at the top of their lungs at EVERY shot?

the most annoying part of the sport...

I know some guys do it, too, but I don't notice it nearly as much..

The "screaming" allows them to put more power on the balls. You fellas actually got a problem with that?!?

Screaming in martial arts is more often used for intimidation than anything else. At least... .that's what they told me when I was a kid and took karate... :)

Bobman I don't think you were really reading the above post. That's why i kept repeating the question about accomplishments not meaning anything. Only is an exclusive word, no way around it. I was trying to give him every opportunity to say it differently but he didn't.

The 'yelling' releases energy and gives power to your actions and focus. Here however, I believe that it's probably an involuntary noise made by the exertion of hitting the ball at their level repeatedly. Have you ever been to the gym and had to push it so hard to make that last rep that you had to yell or make noise to do it? It helps.

Actually, the screaming in tennis I was told was taught to young players by their coaches because they wanted to hear them exhale on contact. If the coach was standing across the court he wanted to make sure his pupils were breathing correctly. I cannot nor will I ever try to defend Mr. Williams and some of his antics he has handled many things wrong. He embarrasses me and his daughters as well. He was banned from some of their tournaments last year by them. I have no respect for him either.

Umm, XSMI, I would suggest you quote Mac's objectionable phrase because I'm not finding it anywhere in the thread. To me, it looks like you are reading into things that are not there. Especially the way you butchered the Limbaugh/McNabb story.

    jdhdiggs,

Each time he responded he never gave them credit for any accomplishments it was the race card as his slant. If you have NFL network watch the last 20 mins. of todays totalaccess, I think they explain what I mean. And Rush said what he said. He was fired for it.

See, that's different than you claiming that he said the "ONLY" reason they got credit was race. That's what YOU claimed he said. He never said that. Again, it looks like you're reading what you want to from what people said rather than their words.

Rush said what he said, but it wasn't what you quoted him as saying. You did the same thing too MacCloud. How about Shaq's comments about how the NBA MVP no longer means anything. No ratial implications there at all, nope, not a one... Of course that one slides and Rush gets canned for saying the exact same thing.... Interesting....

I aint buying it...If that were the case, everytime a baseball player would swing he would grunt rediculously loud...or everytime a hocker player would take a slapshot, you would hear the yell..

I've played both...never once was i told to scream at the top of my lungs to get more power...

See, I did not hear Shaq say that, although he was not the only one to say it. Mike and Mike in the morning had a long discussion about the MVP being given too early for it to mean anything because of what happened with Dallas this season. I am not the race police here. I just took exception to the fact that this thread was started as a celebration for a wonderful woman tennis player and thread got into race. Notice he did not once say they were good tennis players either.

I wouldn't like Venus and Serena Williams no matter what color they were. Especially blue...then they would look like smurfs...and I really hate smurfs.

See, I read his comments as: "I'm sick of Venus/Serena getting additional attention just for the color of their skin and not their game" That's what I got from Mac's original statements.

Me? I wish they's focus on Tennis just to see how good they could become.

No smurfs, but I would mind tasting a little Sarena. Again a different thread. See I think we read a little differently. Race was in the post. Good players was not. Also I googled the Shaq quote and read around 6 articles (not enough because no one has the whole interview). What I gather from what i have read is that it is bitter grapes, runner-up to Nash in 2005, and frustration from losing Wade any any chance at another title run. If those are the circumstances, I give him a pass, If it is because the last two MVP's are white I don't. Again so far i have not read where he has said anything about race.

This is the most circular argument I've ever seen.

Race was in the post because his beef with them is that they play the race card too much. I think that's pretty easy to understand. He never said they weren't talented - just because someone doesn't say "they're talented" doesn't mean they're refuting the fact, it just means that that's not what that person is focusing their discussion on.

You're incriminating and villainizing people based on their omission of a compliment, rather than just listening to what they say.

In your last post, you didn't tell everyone reading this thread that they weren't ****, does that mean you think we all are?

Ah we put an American President on trial for the same thing. And my last post was intended to mean I am done arguing this point. BTW I did not call anyone an ****. Hell for the last two days I have been one. But it is because I feel we need to get away from race I don't care who it is when the topic is achievement.
