This is the response from the fellow at bluejeans cables when I asked him about the merits of the bullet plugs.
I have soldered bullet plugs onto one pair of cables for a customer who
specially requested it (we don't carry them; he supplied the plugs). My
impressions were that (1) the plug is very poorly designed for strain
relief, (2) there's no way to complete shield coverage around the plug
because of the plastic outer shell, and (3) the plastic material of which
the plug is made is far too thin and brittle to be relied on for mechanical
stability. The electrical theories offered for the plug are incoherent and,
so far as I can tell, completely nonsensical. The greatest enemy of truth is very often not the lie - deliberate, contrived and dishonest - but the myth - persistent, persuasive and unrealistic.

there nice but not a must have . They don't suck. I like em but not voting.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
Question is -- do you find them standard on high end cables?
As soon as they become generally accepted as the de facto high quality plug due to their "sonic improvement," I'll consider buying them.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

It is definitely a NICE to have, imo. Frank at Signal Cable hook me up on one set of Analog 2 that I ordered (a couple of years ago). It gives a cleaner top-end, subtle improvement, nevertheless, I can hear the difference.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I have found no sonic benefit in anything but a simple RCA connection, to include Toslink and their evil children. I work in Telecom, and while applications vary, fiber is used due to capacity advantages, not quality advantages.
The audio use of fiber optics is hype...unless you find yourself surrounded by endless interference from FM/AM and Microwave transmissions, as well as one of a kind Electro-Magnetic anomalies. You should probably move, and go to the doctor in that case.
I prefer locking RCA's but not from a sonic perspective.
Aside from the HT, Polkfest will have ZERO digital connections and ZERO Eichmann terminations. That was just my plug for Polkfest
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
I tried a pair of those RCA connectors. while i didn't notice any difference in sound quality. I did want to own a pair in my system. and see if maybe over time if I did an A - B compairson. i'd notice anything different.
I guess the cable quality was what made a slight difference, not the bullet plugs.
so i don't know how to vote. hype, yes. must have, nope.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Hype. I built some cables w/ them and they were a pain in the ****... I'd take the neutrik pro-fi ones any day over those- the Neutriks have great strain relief and make ground first, so you don't get thumps if you're messing around with your gear turned on.

The eichmann rca are good ends & do make some improvement, for even better imporvement try the WBT Nextgen rca's. They are similar to the eichmanns but are built better & have a better strain relief & to me are easier to work with. You can also switch out the female rca to the nextgen for a better match between male & female rca.

>>>2) That plastic is pretty good sheilding as is.<<<
Plastic is good shielding? -
The small bit of wire in the plastic will be exposed to any EMI or RFI. It will be insulated, but not shielded.
-
If it works for you, use it.Michael

In the beginning, all knowledge was new!

When the housing is metal, the wire is completely shielded. It doesn't matter if the wire is exposed inside the metal housing. I think you have insulation and shielding confused.

Lots of good info and discussion here guys.

Update.
I scored 4 Signal Cable Analog-2s with Eichmann Copper plugs off Audiogon.
Very impressed at how snug the plugs fit on the in/outputs, fit more secure than the standard RCA termination from SC.
Strain relief doesnt appear to be an issue with the heat shrink Frank uses.
Sound wise the clarity and bass seem to have improved somewhat , not sure if I can attribute that to the Eichmanns, or going from Analog-1 to A-2, or both.
All in all I think its going to be a tweak well worth the $ spent.

Digging up an old thread here, but I just switched to a pair of SC2 Eichmann (from Scoche RCA) and definitely can hear top-end improvement. Bitchin'!I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I would suggest some of the Aural Thrills teflon RCA plugs. They are some of the best I have found. Something wierd is going on with their web site though or I would post a link. Here is one talking about the plugs and also a link to some of the stuff he sells on Agon.

"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Those appear to be gold plated brass, nothing special."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

Right Face, those ones are. If you read the description, it says you can upgrade to the teflon plugs. There is no picture of them on the Agon page, unfortunately. I would have linked the web page for Aural Thrills itself, but the web page is down for some reason. I could take a picture of mine if you would like to see them. They are a teflon plug with with a strip of pure copper or pure silver as the conductor built into the teflon plug. They are very good to my ears. And, they have no brass involved.
