Due to a piece of brass laying across the banana plugs the tweeter and both subwoofers blew in the satellite. I use two amp per speaker one for the satellite and one for the subwoofer. I bought these new back in the 90s and while they are not my primary speakers I still enjoy them greatly. I was able to find a matched set of mid-woofers but I am unable to find the tweeter. They are the upgraded RD-2516-1s. Years ago one of the tweeters failed and Polk sent me the new pair in exchange for the old ones. From what I have been able to find out the original tweeters were 4 ohm and the updated ones are 6 ohm. I'm either going to send the tweeter in for repair or replace both tweeters with something else. The only recommendations I have come up with are 4 ohm. Any recommendations or help would be greatly appreciated. I really attached to these RTs.

Give Polk Customer service a phone call and ask if the 2516 tweeter is still available. I don't remember seeing mention on the forum that they are out of them.

I used to have a couple RT3000p setups but never heard of the RD-2516-1s "tweeter upgrade". What was the purpose? In all the ones I had I never blew any of the SL6502 tweeters out. As a matter of fact they all sounded fantastic. Great speakers. I used to love mine and had no plans of ever getting rid of them until I bought some SRTs (which are basically the RT3000p's on steroids).
Why not just get new SL6502 tweeters (which are fairly readily-available) and put them back to the way they came from the factory?

Polk stopped making the SL-6502 along with the SL-2000 and SL-3000 tweeters. The RD-2516-1 was basically the SL-6502 with better components and newer "technology." I did a side by side when I was replacing the tweeters and there really was no audible difference. The old tweeter just stopped working one day. I never really push my speaker. I was really surprised when it died. Since Polk no longer stocked the old SL-6502 tweeter they sent me a set of the replacement modle. I guess the guy I talked to was in a really good mood or something because he didn't change me for the tweeters. He asked that I send the old set back to Polk and when he received them he would send out the new ones. And that's how i ended up with the RD-2516-1 tweeters.
I did decide to just go back to the original tweeter. It just seems to be a lot simpler in the end. I'll probably sell the working RD-2516-1 to recoup some of what I'm spending to get the RTs working again.

I understand. I do see the SL6502 tweeters on ebay from time to time both NOS & used (more used than NOS) that's why I mentioned it.

I emailed Polk and they still do have the 2516 in stock. They are $80 plus shipping. I just assumed they would not since they don't even have tweeters for the LSiM series speakers. Thanks. -

Tell them you are a CP member and you should get a discount. Used to be 20% off and free shipping. That may have changed though. -
May be worth stocking up on a spare pair of the 2516 version for potential future needs.

Not to sound dumb but what does CP stand for. I know it's probably being on the forum. As far as stocking that was my thought exactly. Again thanks. -
