Let's move on guys. I do believe Ryan is looking at things as a test period right now and if the arguing and fighting doesn't stop, we may see everything disappear.

    Nobody is celebrating.

This is not a good day (or week) for the Polk forum, but the facts remain and at some point, the outcome was predictable.

It is somewhat surprising that Sound United, Massimo and now Harman International (Samsung) turned a blind eye for so long.

They were too busy with soundbar warranties.

I’d like to know who @The_Mandalorian and @MuchoReverbo are. Seems like a big coincidence that they both just happened to come back to CP right after a few others were shown the door.

Guys I think at the point we’ve answered @mantis question.

I find anyone whose going to talk bad about banned members (who cannot defend themselves) no better than those they are calling out.

I think we can all just move on and invite others to do the same.

I do find it interesting how many people that haven’t been active in many months or years are coming out of the woodwork to celebrate other members being banned.

I simply say that is bad form in my opinion.

I got banned from Club Covid…….lol.

Sorry but there's no conspiracy theory here. As far as myself, I just came back after 10 years because I'm a lifelong Polkie and missed the forum. The fun part about it at least. I had always considered coming back eventually. I tried to rejoin earlier this year by contacting Ken Carter by email but didn't get a response. A few months went by so I called Polk customer service and they got me reinstated.

My former account said I was banned back then but I wasn't. I told Ken I was quitting and he said OK and the next thing I noticed was my Avator had "banned" next to it. It bothered me a little that it was marked that way but just figured that was what they did when you asked to be removed from the forum.

Fast forward to 2026 and to tell you the truth, I had no idea Jesse was banned until I signed on for the first time in 10 years and saw he was. I didn't totally hate him but I wasn't surprised he had been banned. He's banned from the other audio forum I participate in too. Probably for the same reasons.

I think we just need to move on. Let's make this forum more inclusive and enjoyable for everyone. The forum kind of had a bad rep that turned a lot of folks off. We now have an opportunity to change that going forward.

I look forward to reconnecting with all you guys. I don't wish any ill will towards anyone.

    Yup…

I don’t have anything nearly as spectacular to add to that.

I lurk occasionally. I just happened to show up when Jesse had been banned. Pure coincidence.

There has been a LOT of rule breaking on here over the decades. Anyone who has perused these pages over the years knows that even the slightest investigation into Jesse’s past contributions would reveal unacceptable behavior.

It’s unfortunate, because he did share a lot of knowledge when he wasn’t parading around as “President”, but he broke the rules consistently and maliciously, with full knowledge of his actions.

Yeah… but unfortunately for Polk, those soundbar buyers are a significant part of the clientele. They may have been dismissed by some as misguided or not worthy, but this forum is not useful to Polk if nobody is addressing their concerns.

I can personally get along with almost anyone.

Maybe this will be the rebirth of the Polk forum after all, regardless of what happens to “clubpolk”.

I don’t really mean it as a conspiracy theory, just an odd coincidence. So, you don’t remember your previous username?

Well the “new guard” here is off to a pathetic start. This is the kind of question the “non-inclusive” prior members would have answered within an hour or so. Now? Good luck…

What is going on? The place wont be the same without the knowlegable Forum elders. Some people with thin skin need to realize what they have done, time to get some thicker skin or find a forum all about snowflakes and Unicorns. The elders will be missed.

Actually, it's probably the death of Club Polk

    H9

I don't know man, this forum has been around since forever. I think it started back in the 90's or very early 2000's I might be the oldest member here, meaning I have been around in here since the very beginning. The death of this forum would suck. All the changes , all the member who came and went, a lot of us are still around and whatever happened, I just wanted to know.

It's a shell of its former self. In the mid to late 2000's 2006-2014 or so this place was hopping all the time. The past 3-4 years it's really declined. The part I bolded in the quote, just isn't true. We've lost A LOT of long term contributing members.
It may not be the death, but it sure has fallen pretty far. The latest round of.........will only make it fall further, IMO.

    H9

I hear yeah man. I miss a ton of the older members. So many good people left.

I think the decline of membership is tied to a number of factors, Facebook, reddit, etc. This new generation doesn't frequent message boards that much.

Audio in general has a youth group problem, lack of new interest compared to yesteryear will mean the death of many many companies. The companies today only make the problem that much worse but continually raising prices and arguably decreasing quality in many ways.

I recall when I first really started getting into the hobby you could buy some truly awesome gear for 10k, like end game level stuff like the Wilson watt puppy or Mezzo utopia, to get that same hand made quality today you are looking at 30 to 60k and I would argue they don't sound any better than the stuff from 2003.

I'm in the business and I see this very thing on many levels. I don't do Theaters like I use to. I few a year. Also I don't do 2 channel rooms like years past, again just a few a year to select older clients.

Today's generation doesn't show the same level of interest in our hobby and my profession. What is big today is Networks, TV hangs , Cameras , soundbars , Whole house music still holds on , Outdoor speakers are sill very popular. Lighting control is pretty big and whole house Automation is still hanging in there. Smart home if you will as I do all of the above.

I'd like find a way to get the younger generation into this hobby more. Music is still as popular as ever but the delivery systems have changed.

I really like and respect some of those guys, but they have a hard time keeping it civil. They treated this place like it was their own personal playground...

This is how I feel about it as well. The guys that were recently banned and/or quit had deep audio knowledge and will be missed for that reason. I've been a member here for going on 18 years. Virtually everything I know about audio I learned here. I don't know what went down recently. However, during my 18 years here I've witnessed a lot of intolerance and bullying from a self-appointed small group of members. I believe that this group has driven away many more members than they have attracted. Someone might say "oh so-and-so is just gruff. Grow a thicker skin". Nope. I know gruff and it doesn't bother me. Bullying is different. I lament the loss of some specific members that were also knowledgeable but were driven out of here, usually with the label of "troublemaker" given to them by the self-appointed. I think many others just gave up on the place due to the atmosphere fostered by these guys. I haven't and won't visit their new forum but from the descriptions given in this thread it sounds like it is right up their alley. If it's your bag as well then go over there and have fun.

    Totally agree man.

They are like most soundbars...pieces of blankety blank. Cheaply made and software driven. Prone to lots of failures...most often due to user error, but like all new disposable technology, often from hardware failures.

There can be issues, but nobody on the Polk forum owns a soundbar, so nobody on the Polk forum can offer useful advice on how to overcome any issues that do arise.

    Thanks for answering my question.

However, people getting banned , so be it. I'm not gonna defend or bash any of them. If you decide to take part in a back and forth , especially if it gets out of hand and you get banned for it, well maybe you stepped over the line. I fully expect to be banned if I stepped over the line one to many times.

I much prefer to talk about audio as if we were in the same room. I don't know any hobbyist in person who acts like the way things can go around here for the last what 30 plus years? I include myself in that conversation as I have acted a fool many times in the past. Then one day I decided it was a waste of time and that isn't why I like to come in here.

When I got that message about people getting banned , I knew something went down and it had to be pretty bad to get banned. But it is what it is and I'm sure on some level we will miss them in ways but other members might feel releived. it's fine with me either way, I would prefer to talk about out hobby than the nonsense that can and has gone on in here over the years.
