Mystery Markings On Polk MW6600X

While disassembling my early (1983) Monitor 11 speakers, I noticed some strange additional markings on the labels of the original MW6600X drivers.
Two of four drivers have the lettering "M11-H" stamped on the magnet label, and the other two have "M11-L" stamped on the label. See pictures. Anyone have any idea what this refers to?
I hesitate to mention the location of each driver, because I'm not 100% that they haven't been removed before. But, FWIW, here are the locations I found them in my used set of Monitor 11's:
LH speaker inboard driver: M11-H
LH speaker outboard driver: M11-L
RH speaker inboard driver: M11-H
RH speaker outboard driver M11-L
(I did see a previous post where someone showed a picture of a driver marked "M11-L" and the assumption was that "L" was for "Left." However, since my drivers are marked either "L" or "H", it seems apparent that the "L" did NOT stand for "Left.")

I can't remember, were those left and right designated cabinets with maybe designated low and high designated drivers?

H may be an incompletely stamped R.
Or maybe not. As Pitdogg said above, the midwoofers were not crossovered the same, to reduce the comb filtering problem of the M10. So the H would be the driver crosssed over higher then. They called it the Model 11/RTA 11. The later lesser one that came out a few years later they called Monitor 11.

It says "midrange driver towards the inside" so that would be the one stamped H in your speakers.

Yes they are designated left/right. But not sure I follow you, regarding "high and low" as both drivers are at same height in the cabinet. -
Both the H and L drivers put out midbass and low bass and energize the passive radiator.
The H driver also puts out midrange.
H (on the inside): 60 Hz to 3.5kHz
L (on the outside): 60 Hz to 400 HzGeorge / NJ

Ok, that makes sense. That also means mine were indeed in the correct position: "H" on inboard side (with the foam under it) and "L" on outside (with no foam). Thanks!
I guess the follow-up question is whether the "H" and "L" drivers (both 6600X) are actually DIFFERENT, or if the label markings of H & L were merely "assembly aids" for the workers building the speakers, so they'd know which driver got the black wire ("H" inner) and which driver got the blue wire ("L" outer).
[With all the different MW numbers Polk used, it seems unlikely they'd use the same number (6600X) on drivers with different characteristics.] -

You have somewhat rare speakers. Tell us some of your impressions, even though they haven't been modded yet? Do they have internal bracing and what does it look like? Is your foam under the midrange driver still intact? How well do they stereo image?
I just noticed Polk said "metal foil" capacitors in the manual. I'm guessing they were really metalized film.George / NJ
