I've had this DualDisc version of the album for more than 20 years and just realized yesterday that the DVD side had MLP 24/96 (DVD-A) audio on it. Extracted and synced to the server now. Enjoying the upgrade in quality over the Redbook side that I've heard countless times. This album has always been a reference quality for me and this is just a little bit better as expected.

Emtidi - Saat

**** - **** Plays Again
This late '60s UK psych with has a psychedelic and freaky, fuzz n' wah-wah guitar with swirling keyboards and a classic '60s production loaded with all of the studio effects of the era. ****'s Plays is undoubtedly also one of the most obscure and beautiful. Their line up has always been a mystery as they never revealed their identity.

Golem - Orion Awakes
This album captures the classic electronic and psychedelic sound of 1970s Germany. It features long, spacious instrumentals, motorik drum beats (a steady, repeating drum rhythm), and vintage keyboards.

I've had this CD for almost 30 years. I've heard it a couple times on a HDCD player. I thought my Daphile setup was maybe capable of decoding the HDCD, but I was wrong. An extra step was required in dBpoweramp. I re-ripped it today with the HDCD DSP enabled and finally got to hear it again in the full HDCD dynamic range. It shows 24 bit, but the DSP really just fills the stuff between 20bit and 24bit to get a more universally playable file. This definitely sounds better than the normal 16/44.1 rip that I've been listening to for years. Now, not every CD that shows HDCD is really that much better, but there are some gems. Unfortunatly, all the Van Halen HDCDs are just marketing garbage. They don't sound any better when decoded.
