89 years ago (May 29, 1937), the first flight of the Grumman G-21 Goose took place.
This JRF-5 Grumman JRF-5 Goose was assigned to Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida (USA), in 1941 and remained on the station throughout the WWII. In 2009 Jimmy Buffett purchased N48550, a 1939 Grumman Goose seaplane. It's the third Grumman seaplane that Buffett had owned. Jimmy Buffett’s beloved 1939 Grumman G-21 Goose seaplane was a staple of his tropical island-hopping adventures. The historic amphibious aircraft now rests on permanent display at the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile, Alabama, where it was donated to honor his legacy.
Following Buffett's passing, it was revealed that he had anonymously donated both his Grumman Goose and his Boeing Stearman biplane to the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park. Rain really helps the Crepe Myrtles branch out.
I decided to clean up our neighbor's yard while she left for a week. I dethatched my side of the property line and just HAD TO DO HER SIDE TOO.
It was a BIG job, but it got my blood flowing again.
The Live Oak trees' leaves were preventing the grass from getting air and rain to the soil. It's been years since it was raked/de-thached. We've had rain since, and we're having rain now. That yard is turning greener by the day.
I also spread some fertilizer over onto her yard. Not the whole thing since it's expensive now. Anyway, here are a couple of pics. Oh, my wife helped the second day to bag the ton of leaves and also blew the far-side Magnolia leaves back beside her house. I wanted to bag them; she didn't. I was tired anyway, so that's that. It looks the best it's been in a couple of years.
I'll put some more fertilizer down in her yard in a month. That should help the Centipede grass immensely.
