Thinking of adding more McIntosh gear… 2023 Grand Wagoneer series 3

Just looking to see if anyone has any advice on this. I’m looking at a very low mile 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer to add to the vehicle fleet in the house. My 2019 Subaru outback is getting too small for my boys and the family. If we plan on taking any kind of a road trip somewhere, there’s just not enough room for us and all our luggage on a trip more than a weekend along. Does anyone have experience with jeep in general and Wagoneers in particular? It has every option under the sun, including the high output, twin turbo hurricane in line 6. I hear lots of great things about the engine, but there’s some horror stories out there too.

Expect to get around 15 mpg using recommended premium gas in it but it will do 0 to 60 in under 5 seconds.

Is this the L or regular size Grand Wagoneer?
A Mopar extended warranty that covers electronic gizmos is advisable since the bumper to bumper will be coming to an end.
Beautiful looking vehicle. -
No personal experience with Jeep in general but I know a few people that own them, and it's the last Jeep they'll own (seemingly constant repair/maintenance issues), just sayin...Remember, when you're running from something, you're running to something...-me

I'm in that club of never owning another Jeep.

When I read threads like this... I just don't understand.
A family vehicle is a minivan... There is literally no vehicle better at hauling people than a mini van.
Don't understand the thought here.
Just say you want a badass vehicle that goes very fast lol

Hear me out, it's slow and boring but can comfortably and safely fit 7 adults and lots of crap at the same time and gets 36 mpg while being extremely reliable

I have a close relationship with my Jeep dealer. I do not follow the Wagoneers much, but I do know there were several first-year issues with them. Electronics and engines, if I recall correctly. They were trying to go after the Cadillac Escalade / GMC Yukon and Ford Expedition crowd at the time, but I don’t think they ever really got a footing in that luxury SUV market.
If you have enjoyed trouble-free service from your Subaru, you may be in for a surprise with a Stellantis product. For the last 20+ years I have had phenomenal “luck” (?) with them, but that is really counter to their reputation. lol

There are a couple years of Mopar products to avoid. I believe ‘23 may be included. I’ve seen plenty of scary things on the y tube regarding issues. Like stated earlier, electronics and engines. If you purchase one,I would recommend an extended warranty for sure.See my profile for list of gear.

My Subaru had to have an engine out rebuild at 45,000 miles due to cam seals leaking. Thank God I had an extended warranty because without it it would’ve been a $12,000 repair. The Gear... Wagon Queen Family Truckster?

Have to side with @VR3 on this regarding a minivan, because when my littles were... little, I leased a 1998 Nissan Quest. It didn't have many bells and whistles, but was totally affordable and I had room for 2 more people if I needed it. I leased because I figured we would outgrow it sooner or later, especially once playpens and such became unnecessary. It turned out to be the right move for us.So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

A minivan is not even a remote possibility for me not gonna happen not in this lifetime the next or the one after that. Last year I had to cosign for a 2023 Chevy Trail Boss for my Grandson it was a Truck from California that who ever owned it moved to Iowa and traded it in, since it was from out west it never had the undercoating to rust proof it, part of the deal was a winterproofing package. A week later we took it in on a friday after work we dropped it off at the dealership which was 70 some miles north of us they informed us they forgot about saving us a vehicle to use over the weekend, the sales person said well you can use one of the new Wagonners off the lot for the weekend he pulled it around to us it was the top of the line package, had the seat massage on both drivers and passenger seats the thing could adjust the vehicle to 3 different heights on the fly. The damn thing would even illuminate the Wagonner emblem from underneath the running boards onto the pavement below at night
Dealer said it had a sticker price of $75,000 he handed us the keys and said bring it back the following Monday with a full tank of gas. We both looked at each other and said hell yeah and off we went tried out the seat massage there were several selections, was changing the height of the vehicle on the fly while crusing down the highway the Mcintosh entertainment center sounded damn good, we were pimping for sure.
When we arrived home after taking the long route home the ladies wanted to go out for a cruise heads turned going aroud town stopped at a place for a couple of drinks it was dark seeing the Wagonner emblem light up the pavement on both sides was cool as heck. Drove tht Wagonner all weekend was a good time tried all the bells and whistles we were all impressed.
That monday came and we returned it got in theTrail Boss headed home we both looked at each othe and said it was not a Trail boss then started sayin how **** it was and laughed the rest of the way home. Moral of the story get you the extended cab Trail Boss plenty of room for the family and you wont lose your manhood. Im pretty sure with all the bells and whistles the Wagoneer has it will be in the shop a lot.

John, the car of your dreams has more room than the Jeep...and you can store 3 or 4 bodies in the trunk and be like Tony without the concrete. All you need is a "Train Station".
Make it happen.

Ummm Tom, the Jeep Grand Wagoneer is a very large SUV with a massive amount of room.

'72 Riviera boat tail.
They didn't measure interior space the same way they do now, but it had to have been the same, with a plethora of trunk space. If it wasn't? I'd be surprised. The cost? (not in CA)....the same in today's world.
Jeeps are not particularly known for interior space.

The Grand Wagoneer is built on a Ram pickup platform. It is huge, inside and out.

I will never own a Jeep product.
I know way too many people that have had nothing but problems with them.
My wife got one as a rental when she was in Miami, she liked the way it looked and the room, but she even said it felt cheap and unrefined. -

Man all this talk about Jeep's is making me laugh. I can look back & laugh now but not so funny when it happened.
A few years back we flew out to Flagstaff, AZ & rented a Jeep Compass & drove to Page, AZ for our son's wedding. We drove around a bit with no issues.
Now the fun part begins. After the wedding, the reception was on a really nice boat on Lake Powell... gorgeous scenery & a unique experience.
Having a great day. Then the trip home to the ABNB. Coming out of Lake Powell the tranny started slipping, the air all of a sudden stopped working (probably not related issues) but man was it hot.
We limped back to the house & called the rental company. They had no other offices in our area. I called around to find another rental company but found out that Page, AZ is pretty much a dead zone for car rentals. Couldn't find anything.
So I called the original rental company back & the best they could do was to send a flat bed with another car & pickup the Compass. Of course this couldn't happen until the next day. They said they could be there early afternoon. It's a good 2.5 hr ride from Flagstaff to Page buy they had to find a local company with a flatbed for the job. Man I was breathing fire!
I said ok 'cause there wasn't anything I could do.
To make things worse we had to be out of the ABNB by 11:00.
I called a local Holiday Inn & explained the situation & they said we were more than welcome to hangout in there lobby until the flatbed arrived. They actually took pretty good care of us while we were waiting. Coudos to them & the staff.
The flatbed finally arrived at 4:00 with the new car... another Compass!!
We were all so pissed that it took so long. Anyway the driver was really nice & apologized for the inconvenience.
We drove to the other ABNB we rented to finish out the week. We lost almost a full day on account of that Jeep. Bad luck or just bad cars?
I received a full refund for the fiasco so that took some of the sting away. With fingers crossed the car was fine for the rest of the week & the long drive back to Flagstaff to return it.
Let's just say I'm not a fan of Jeep after that.

Jeep discontinued the less than grand Wagoneer for 2026 but still offers a base Grand Wagoneer. It's possible to get a nicely equipped Grand Wagoneer with the premium package new for $65K or lower in my area. Of course that's not including a $2,595 destination charge, which seems high considering these are built in Michigan!
-
I always forget about the massage feature on my SUV's seats.
It's nice when I do remember to use it, it just seems to always slip my mind. -
I had the massage feature that I also didn't use much in an Audi. Always reminded me of having a kid kicking the back of my seat in an airplane.

Destination charges are the same in all 50 states, per federal law...
This is the one we are looking at...
