Hello everyone,
It's getting cold here in PA. Snow feel in the air for days now. I gotta admit, I'm out. I hate the cold. I don't want to be outside for more than I have to. I hate it.
Did I mention I hate this weather?

I like the seasonal changes here in New England and as long as I'm able to get outside for some fresh air every single day I'm good.

No one hates winter more than I do, I finally moved to South Carolina a month ago and have no regrets!

I like the cold weather a lot more than heat and humidity.
That's why we moved north to retire.

The thing that drove me out of Michigan was having to deal with heavy snow overnight and trying to get to work in the AM. That always sucked. The last year I was there (1996), we had something like 10" of wet snow overnight on March 20 (almost the first day of Spring). It took me 2hrs to get to work (normally a 15 minute drive).
Working from home now, I don't know that I would mind it as much. I like the crisp air in brief spells, but 5+ months of dreary skies (around the Great Lakes) would just depress the heck out of you.

None of you are as far north as I. Ya the cold sucks. Depends on your definition of cold. Too cold to snow ya f off. Anything warmer than -10c I can handle. If it snows tons I work from home. Snowblower, shovels and ice melter and I'm good to go. But yes many different coats, boots, tires ..... That part sucks.

-10C is only like 15F for those who aren't from Canuckistania. We hit that on overnight lows here in the northern part of the Mid-Atlantic states pretty regularly in January and February. Doc Hardy is way farther north, almost to Canuckistania himself and -10C is probably a far more regular occurrence for him. He's likely at elevation too, like skipshort12.
My elevation is, like, 138 feet above sea level so I'm not a hillbilly like them, just a flatlander "piney" living in the backwoods of NJ here.
You probably get way colder than -10C, though. I don't know many places in Canuckistania that would get you away from that level of cold. Well, there's a couple places but I'll bet you a Canuckistanian Kopek that you don't want to live in southern Ontario or southwest British Columbia.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

Besides that, I think he was near Juneau which might actually be south of where Willow is.

It was Janmike. Come end of January and Feb it's when the nasty cold hits then it mixes with wet snow and freezing rain. Skating rinks everywhere

I worked in Fairbanks, AK, for a bit. Now that's cold! Looks like they'll be going close to -30 degrees F overnight next week. But it's a dry cold. Juneau is very damp and mildly cold.
Also spent time working in Hawaii. I prefer Alaska! -
I have engaged with @snow, bought tubes from him. IIRC he lives in Fairbanks Ak. I bought tubes from another guy on ebay who was from Fairbanks, I asked if he belonged here, he stated no. When I stated we had a guy here from Fairbanks that sold tubes and I though he was him, he was like hmmm. Snow knew him, and helped him get going with selling tubes, SO this guy ACTUALLY did know WHO I was referring to, but played dumb.....

You should try roofing in Michigan on lake Michigan in the winter. The only thing good about it is there is usually not much snow on the roof due to high winds.

I try not to do anything outside when the temps get below 45F 'cause stuff contracts enough that it changes dimensions and will buckle and crack when it warms up.
Also, it's 29 degrees right now which is 3 degrees below freezing for you metric people and my lake has a sheet of ice on it. The biggest benefit to that is the Cobra Chickens....I mean infernal Canada Gooseses will likely be moving on further south where they should be and not hassling me here.
I tried to get them to move on sooner but they weren't having it. I even told them I knew Willow and they were like "That fella is super weird, bud. Maybe not a good idea to admit to knowin' him?"Expert Moron Extraordinaire

The thermometer is droppin' like a rock here this afternoon, as forecast.
It was 31 degrees (F) when we got home at 2:30 pm. A snow squall started about 10 minutes later; near white-out conditions. By 3:15, it was down to 18 degrees. 'sposed to be zero-ish (F) tonight.

I retired 2 years ago from being a letter carrier for the USPS. 28 1/2 years of Rochester NY winters. Not a big fan of the cold weather anymore. Not so much a big fan of the heat either. That’s why I try to stay indoors. I control the climate.See my profile for list of gear.
