My Polk magnifi max sr soundbar sound cuts out

Anyone seen an issue with their Polk magnifi max sr soundbar sound randomly cutting out?

I am on the latest 136 firmware streaming via FireTV

  • I'll show this to a friend at Polk for suggestions.
  • His recommendation:

Assuming they are connected via HDMI ARC,

    * Reestablish communication between the Bar and the TV by unplugging the HDMI cable from the Television and plugging it back in.
    * Check to ensure the HDMI cable is not damaged on either end. It is recommended that they try a different HDMI cable.
    * To help confirm that it is not an HDMI CEC issue, temporarily connect the Television to the Bar via Optical.
    * Check the Television for any firmware updates
  • I am having intermittent dropout issues as well. In fact the issues range from: Audio cuts out intermittently during any kind of audio playback. Audio instantly cuts out and takes 10 seconds to resume. When xbox or ps5 changes to HD mode the audio cuts out and requires reset of the soundbar power to resume. I have both systems input into an LG OLED TV and using the ARC output. I have changed the HDMI cords, changed them out to new cables etc. I'm about to try the google home reset trick but otherwise I'm at a loss. Anything get your issue sorted?

I'll forward this to a friend at Polk, I'm assuming you have the MagniFi Max, correct?

    Here is his response:

Regarding the soundbar issue, I suggest that the customer check for firmware updates for both your TV and soundbar. If either of them is not up-to-date, this could be the reason for the issue they are experiencing. Firmware updates improve HDMI ARC connectivity and stability, among other things.

Here is a description of how to get the most recent updates:

I'm having the same issue on Magnifi Max via Fire Stick Max 4K. Sound is heard then cuts out for a while (say 10-30 seconds) then returns for a while. Repeat. I am connected via HDMI-ARC. I will try the optical connection and check the sound bar software is up to date (it is connected to my wi-fi). The TV (Samsung) software is up to date.

The sound bar appears to be turning off and on again when this occurs.

I'm generally unhappy with the Polk... crackling on the rear speakers is very annoying and the unit has been replaced when it was under warranty with no improvement.
