Amtrak service returned to the Gulf Coast this morning with excitement, and a delay.

A truck in Gulfport became stuck on a crossing causing a 45-minute delay in the trains arrival in New Orleans.

A sign at the crossing warns of low ground clearance.

The delay affected both the westbound and eastbound trains, with the New Orleans to Mobile train arriving 35 minutes late.

Subscription-based everything is the (near) future. So many companies cannot generate revenue by increasing new or repeat unit sales, but they can generate revenue more or less in perpetuity by essentially selling consumers the license to a product and charging a monthly fee to maintain or upgrade access to/use of the product.

When Microsoft goes to a subscription model for Windows (and they will, sooner or later), I'm (back) to Linux, full time! :#

Agree!! I have been using Windows forever, but ............

I have a new Apple MacBook Air Laptop as of two weeks ago.

I am in the process of putting Linux on my desktop.

The end of Windows for me!

Agree and, Toyota is using remote access to shut off your Toyota should you miss car payments.

This doesn't surprise me. Have you seen how young truck drivers are these days?

My brother (not young at all) has been a long-haul trucker for decades. He tells a story of going through a re-certification a while ago, and a young 'certifier' was in the truck with him...giving instructions. Eventually, my brother had enough, turned to the guy and said, "Dude, I've driven more miles backwards than you have forwards, so just shut-up and let me do this."

As much as I despise the shift towards subscription based features in vehicles, this seems like the absolute best and most satisfying use of this technology, IMO.

Pay for your stuff and you don't have issues.

Too many people are willing to spend money they don't have, and then expect to keep using what they aren't paying for.

GPS tracking and remote kill switch is very common for high risk borrowers.. Nothing to see there and it's not just Toyota

The laminate flooring was installed, and the toilet was removed, so it wasn't in the way. A few hours later, the carpet was installed...

I agree with the spirit of this argument 100%. My issue is abuse of the same tech. For example, during to c@vid lockdowns - the government doesn’t want you traveling? Easy - just lean on the car companies to lock everyone (except the ruling class, of course) out of their bought/paid for transportation.

Maybe the ground beneath is eroded, causing concrete to settle against the blade.

That blade is from a walk behind road saw and I've buried those blades to the arbor many times over the years. Same with a back breaking demo saw. Never once got one stuck to the point of removing the saw.
My best guess is it's a set up pic as that blade isn't stuck.

True to your point on people over buying their mens but damn, I don't want someone listening to me & the misses doing the nasty while someone monitoring the car is whacking to our music.
I realize that's a way out there example but it's kind of how I feel, they keep creeping into our privacy.

I find it interesting that younger folks are more acceptable to the idea of giving up some freedoms compared to the older gens.

That's already happening though. It doesn't take a vehicle to spy on you. Case in point. I told my wife a Joke the other day. She laughed. Siri laughed. Alexa laughed. The TV laughed. Google laughed.

(this is not a real story BTW....but you get where I am coming from)

Yeah, it really doesn't phase me. We have Alexa devices throughout our home and at this point, I wouldn't ever consider getting rid of them. The have just shown to be way too useful.

If someone wants to listen to me tell my kids to take out the garbage and feed the dog 400 million times, knock yourself out...

In all reality, I have zero fear that anyone is listening in on me and my family.

I understand why some people will have their reservations and just don't trust them, I simply don't share the same viewpoint.

Parked across from this "person" today and If I had a pen and paper would have left this note: Are you seriously okay with your parking job?? Please, throw away your keys and NEVER drive again!! My girlfriend congratulated me on my restraint....I really wanted to say something else about his lack of concern....

A fingerfull of dirty grease from the front end of your vehicle placed under the driver's door handle would've been fitting. If you were really upset another dose underneath the tailgate handle is a nice added touch.

Not likely. That scenario just doesn't play out. There are literally acres of parking spots in this area, two banks, three restaurants, Costco and Walmart are all associated with this stretch of land.

No sir, this is just another example of the inconsideration people show with their vehicles here in San Antonio whether they are driving or parking, and it's overwhelmingly abundant. If leaving a note under someone's wiper is being an a$$, call me what you will, it's no skin off my back.
