Refurbished Sr1’s stuck at max volume and extremely crackly

I purchased refurbished sr1’s for my magnifi max and after pairing they play at max volume regardless of the soundbars volume. I’ve read somewhere it may be a mismatched firmware. I’ve tried factory resetting the soundbar and repairing. I have removed from google home and reconnected. Still no improvement.

Hello,
Welcome to the Polk Audio forum. I'll forward your issue to some folks at Polk for a possible solution. -
The response:
"Have him confirm the serial number to make sure the SR1's are compatible with the bar.
The bar serial number will start with AM8218*****."

Yes the bars serial number does start with that. Could it be because the bar is from a different region?

Any updates? -
No, yesterday was a holiday. When you say, "refurbished" could you elaborate what was done to them?

My apologies I didn’t know you were on holidays. I purchased “manufacturer refurbished units” online. -
Ah, I understand, I'll let you know when I hear from my friend.

He has requested the serial number from the subwoofer, please.

Yeah, this is a known issue when the SR1 surrounds have mismatched firmware compared to the MagniFi Max. Even factory resets won’t fix it if the versions aren’t aligned.
You’ll probably need to reach out to Polk support directly and request a firmware update utility or have them flash the firmware on the surrounds -

Thanks for the info. I would have thought Polk would send out manufacturer refurbished units with the latest update but obviously not. Polk want $110 just to send a technician out to have a look. Looks like my Polk days are over. I appreciate the help @SeleniumFalcon and @jennett332 -
I can understand your frustration, but hang in there a bit. Let me check with my friend and see if this can't be resolved.

I live in Australia unfortunately. I have warranty on the purchased sr1’s so I will be able to return them. I appreciate the offer though. -
Thanks for the response, let me know if you run into any problems getting a solution. I'll be glad to help.
