How so? Everything I saw was consistent with parted out 10As from 1979. Some people stole those, and the tweeters. I just didn't need any more myself.

I had planned to pick these up tomorrow but I seriously just have no room for more speakers. They look a little rough in the pics but definitely worth $100 for 12C's.

Question is why did he not do any pics with grilles off. I wouldn't personally drive too far without that.

I stopped into this store today with a friend who lives in the area. I thought this was a pretty good deal on these one-owner 5s with upgraded tweeters. The cabinets and grills are flawless. Just passing along in case anyone is interested.

I am unaffiliated with the store or owner of the speakers.

Shows ya what I know! I thought all the tweeters from back in the day had silver domes. When I saw the black ones on these I assumed they had to be the 194 or 198 replacements. Thanks for the correction! Not as good a deal then.

If it has foam around it, it's either a SL2500 or a SL3000.

Weird. These are the original SL3000s in my RTA 15TLs. Thus, why I thought the domes back then were all silver.

Still a good deal for someone considering their condition and the SL2500 is a pretty good tweeter.

Unusual to see those tweets in those speakers. I had no idea they ever used those in the smaller speakers like that. 10,s, 7, 5 and such. It would have tricked me too. Would have probably thought that someone put the wrong tweets in from another set of Polks or something. That is a nice set of speakers. I hope you get them and get a good deal on them too.

I may have used up any goodwill I had here with all the help I got from various members on my RTAs, since I would feel like I needed to repeat that process to bring these up to snuff, also. All the good comments about 5s still has me thinking about it, though. I will be passing by them a number of times in my travels the next few weeks. We shall see …

LOL, I still haven’t found a home for @ALL212’s L100s I got from him a year ago. This place ships, so they could be yours just as easy! 😜

I know, 7s are sweet! But, some 5s with the VH treatment would be pretty cool, too, you gotta admit! 🤔😉😝

I also have a pair of 5's that I bought about 8 years ago. Although mine aren't as nice they were considerably less. I bought them for 30 dollars.

Think I am down to five sets.... Nope, six. All Polk Vintage stuff. That is if LSi15's count as vintage.
    Monitor 5, SDA-SRS2's, SDA2b's, RTA 15tl, SDA-CRS, RTA 8t's. Wait, that's seven! I gotta sell some speakers man.
