A couple questions regarding crossover rebuilds

No B.S. I'll keep this as short as I can.

1: When rebuilding a crossover with metalized polypropylene capacitors such as ClarityCap CSA series or SoniCap Gen I series capacitors, I can omit the bypass capacitor entirely, correct? No need to keep it there, or replace it with a new capacitor, I can just pretend it was never in the original schematic?

2: In the event I encounter a microfarad (capacitance) rating that is too high, such as 600uF, for any poly caps to be reasonably priced, how should I go about this? If aiming for the highest sound quality, would it be smarter to use like 3x 200uF electrolytics with small tolerances to minimize whatever quality degradation it would add to the signal? This is in reference to an 80Hz HPF which is the first component prior to the entire woofer circuit.

    1. Correct

Number 2 depends on where it's at in the circuit
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

The 600uF HPF preceding literally every other component in the woofer circuit for the RT3000p.

    Woofer as in midwoofer?

I would aim for film caps

    6 x 100uf

    12 x 50uf

    24 x 25uf

    Etc

I missed the idea of using electrolytics for the 3x 200uF. Use film as Trey stated.

Yes the midwoofer. Will be expensive but I'll get over it.

If the bypass cap is 3uF in the tweeter circuit, do I still omit it, or is that quite a large bypass cap to be negligible?

    3uf isn't a bypass

Okay then you just saved me from making a pretty huge error. Thank you very much. I'm going to assume that needs to be a film capacitor in that case.

You guys are the best. Time to get to saving up. Will post photos once I rebuild this XO in November or so, I think it's going to be a really fun project.
