I call it and Ivan gets the credit...LOL
You were right on the money with this being a connection issue and got me started on the right path. I’m so glad that’s where the issue is since I can handle this upgrade on my own. It’s great having the full SDA effect back!

Political Correctness'.........defined
"A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a t-u-r-d by the clean end."

As an FYI on the orignal questions. I had thought I had updated but I guess not. I had chance to get a pair at the local dealer for very good price however based on some of the comments here and in particulate Jesse's comment I suspected I would feel the same way. There are just to many newer speakers I have listened to and just not been into them.

Undoubtably he did.............. this is his precursor to a "nice" used pair that will be coming up for sale soon. -
I own the original Polk SDA SRS (pre 1.2) and the L800s. Short version is the L800 is clearer in the bass and midrange, a bit bright on the treble by comparison. I like it, but...
... the SRS beats it hands down for overall listenability, and vast soundstage and unfatigued listening. It just sounds louder, bigger, warmer, better. To be fair it also outshines my pair of Focal Sopra 2s as well (on the same metrics). Its not as.accurate at any frequency, but no one I've ever played them to seems to care. They just go wow !
The L800 is a very good speaker for what I paid ($AUD6200) , but I admit that I was disappointed that it isnt a successor to the original SRS designs. No one who loves their SRS are going to prefer the L800 -
In terms of scale I consider the L800 to be more in line with the SDA-SRS 3.1TL or SDA 1C. Modern driver technology in the Legend line took out the old driver inaccuracies.
The original SDA-SRS was kind of like a big warm wall of sound. A little mushy but very pleasant to listen to. Still nothing like the big passive radiator sound from those short of using a couple fast and musical subwoofers. Magnepan can also do the wall of sound thing, in some ways better, but lacks the deep bass.
I prefer the L800s with a Rel subwoofer or two and ditched the big old SDAs a few years ago. Unfortunately, it looks like none of those speakers will be making a repeat performance in the new market. -
I have a set of L800’s, and love them, but my 2.3TL’s with a pair of SVS SB1600’s wins hands down. The set-up I am running right now is by far the best it has been. I would love to get a pair of REL’s sometime down the road, and put the SVS’s in the HT setup, but would it be worth the investment? Only one way to find out, I have other things I would like to try before I decide to cross that bridge..
We actually put the L800’s in the bedroom with a Pioneer SC-07 and a OPPO 105D 😁 sounds better than that lame soundbar we had in there.. LOL!! Hey, I needed a place to store them, don’t knock it.. LOL!!!
