I sold the 7B's a little while back. I never hooked them up. Just have SDA's and Monitor 10's now. But I would liked to have tried this mod but never thought about it really.

@marvda1 I can dig it. I've seen alligator covered speakers but never lizard. Check these out...I also have black and burgundy but these are worn the most.

The one thing I have found with the side firing woofer speakers is that it is completely dependent upon the room itself as to what actually sounds better. FWIW. YMMV.
