    Thanks guys.

She asked for Sidney a few times several days after but she's still a little young to fully understand what all happened I believe.

Very strange to lose a dog, a new experience for me for sure.

Trey, I honestly balled with *all* of my dogs when they went.

Some, more than others, but they become family. An "extension" of you and your family, if you will.

My most recent dog, "Copper" hit us so bad when she passed that we haven't had a dog ever since. That was 3 or4 years ago.

They truly become family and when they pass?

    Well, you know....

True words my friend, true words.

Buddy is older and in great health but I am already dreading the day. Time to cherish the moments left!

When they do? Grieve and do what you do. It is what it is.

After that? Remember the good times, the times they made you laugh, the trips you spent together and the memories you shared. Death is a given. With all of us.

Just remember the good times, broskizzle. That should put your mind at ease.....

    See bold above ^^^^.

I did that ten years ago and later decided it's best to get another pet ASAP. Doesn't hurt as much.

Now because I'm up in years, I have the feeling I don't want to leave one behind. Catch-22.

Sorry to hear Trey. I lost my first pit last year and it was incredibly hard. Time does heal though. Sounds like your buddy had a fantastic life

Had to say goodbye to my old man today Buddy, he was a stray roaming the neighborhood that claimed us as his home and he was truly a great companion and will be sorely missed.

In his young days, he cleared 8 ft fences, a true free spirit. He never ran away, just wanted to go back in the fence when he was out!

    Rip Buddy

Yes, stray (or shelter) mutts and domesticated half-feral cats often make the best pets. What a handsome dog (those ears!). RIP.

Nothing on this earth loves as unconditionally as a dog - nothing.

    RIP to your best friend…:-(

Ugh, you lost to close together as I did.

On a lighter note, your daughter is of age to see the coming of a new friend, that she will enjoy for years to come. ??
