    AudioKinesis Swarm is a four-subwoofer system with one amp to power them, $4000. In the latest Absolute Sound Editors’ Choice issue. It was reviewed some years ago by Robert E. Green, who likes it.

    A Rel 3D system is an option using as many subwoofers as will fit in a room with each speaker having its own subwoofer potentially. Maybe even more than one! Depends if it's for home theater. If it's for stereo only then three Rel subwoofers can be stacked for each main speaker.

    Awhile back, for my main system I was really close to ordering 4 affordable smaller sub drivers and giving it a go. Was thinking of a Sonotube or wedge enclose behind one of the sofas as space is tight. Even with my room being open to the kitchen it's probably overkill over the two I have. Definitely, 2-4 subs is better in my room vs. the response issue at the main two seats with a single sub. It gets much worst the further out you go as a have a loveseat and couch side by side.

    Joey, I will say this....

    You may or may not know that I have 2ea. Rythmik subs in my system. I have had many subs and the one thing I found most interesting is to place the subs (unless down firing, which I do not like) on very substantial stands that place the sub (or if dual subs in one unit, the center of both subs) at tweeter level.

    This helps immensely with room nodes and the issues with overloading the room. While I may be interested in a sub swarm, what I have now works perfectly. At the very least, get two subs and configure them in stereo.

    You would not believe just how much information is offered in stereo at lower frequencies. You cannot detect where the subs are either....at any point in time, no matter the genre of music, if dialed in correctly....yet the information, texture and detail?
