You didn't know about Sharknado?!?

-
I don't get out much.

Nor do I
but I reference Sharknado when I teach my glycobiology students about alternative platforms for monoclonal antibody-style therapeutics. There's a family of monoclonals based on shark antibodies called "IGNAR"...

What, no furin cleavage sites or glycoprotein gp120 loops?Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists.

Well the only thing that got killed was the bear and 75 pounds of coke. Of course Waylon Jennings owned it. Didn't he have a coke habit?Gustard X26 Pro DAC

Cocaine Bear ain't got nuthin' on Fentanyl Bear. 75 lb. of blow would be a walk in the forest to Fenty.Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists. -

So, I am guessing that the sequel for Cocaine Bear's already in the works. It will be called Martian Bear.

It worked for Sharknado... and still does for Plan Nine from Outer Space.

Funny, I saw a commercial for this and thought to myself how stoned they had to be when they came up with this idea!.

Or maybe just bear years.
There was an entertaining review of this movie on Morning Edition today. I guess it did very well in the box office this past weekend.
(further signs of the End of the Age, if you ask me. Nostradamus mentioned this, I am pretty sure. I know he name-checked Sharknado.)

Saw Cocaine Bear Friday night.

OK, let me explain...
Both of my daughters work part time at our local movie theater and one of the 'perks' is free movies. They've both been into really cheesy movies lately and when we saw the preview for this a month or two ago (while we were seeing M3GAN - for free), we said, we've GOT to see it! So, opening night, my kids got some of complimentary tickets and we went with them and some friends.
All I can say is I would NOT pay the 12 bucks to see this movie. For free? Yeah, just for the curiosity.
My short review is to expect exactly what you think it is - a very exaggerated bloody gore (dark) comedy - like the Evil Dead movies. If there's a ridiculously bloody way for someone to die, they will. There were some laughs, jump scares, and cringeworthy bloodshed. I should have bought stock in prosthetic limbs and theatrical blood.
On a final note, kind of sad to see Ray Liotta in what would be his final role. He's certainly done a few better flicks in his career.
