The 810 was really ment to be on thier sides. The imaging is really improved and those 4 bass drivers are nice, really fast and detailed. I'm a big fan of soft domed tweets and the mids are really sweet.Main Rig:

I didn't know they were meant to be on their sides.
I guess I'm in for a treat.

Beautiful, they were!

You had those improved cabinets and the beautiful metal grills too I can tell.
I've seen them in person and they are beautiful quality cabinets and grills.
I completely finished the grills earlier. Then I listened to them for a while.
Listening to them on their sides was GREAT. The sound floats above them like the JBL's sound did.
I stapled the soft Velcro grill rim strips to aid in security when removing the grills. I did re-glue the hook strips in the grooves on the front of the cabinets. I pulled one staple on one end so I could put glue under each of them. All the original glue had come loose under them. Now EVERYTHING about the Velcro attachments is tight and secure again.
I punched a hole in the grill and put the ADS metal labels back in.
The grills stick like glue to the speakers now.

I felt like the center voice was to the right so I flipped the left speaker and BAM...it was a huge sound-field like the JBL presented.
These are great laidback speakers like ADS is known for. The JBLs are like Polk audio's.
The ADS's have a softer bass than the JBLs too but still present a fine bass for sure.
I'm so happy these two sets are finished.
I might not mess with the JBL binding posts for a while. I'm tired now that both are done to this point.
These ADS's have small pin size opening push-clips also for wire hook-ups.
I haven't played the ADS's hardly at all for years too. I'm sure the woofers need to be played for a while to loosen up more.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.

Just found out my sony disc player's remote has an "Audio" button below the 9 button. I was laying down today out there in low light to rest and I pushed a lot of buttons on 2 remotes. Well, one CD tonight sounded like crap. Why would a designer put a sound altering button below the 9.
I searched the remotes for sound or audio buttons and saw that one. While another CD was playing, I heard the sound change a little. Then the next push collapsed the sound to crap. Like only a center channel sound sounding through a 2' tube. I pushed the button again and the sound was AWESOME! The ADS's sounded full and very powerful. Really amazing sound was coming out now.
So I'm going to look on line to see what that Audio button does to the sound in how many ways too. I think there is 3 or 4 sound changes. There is 3. I found the player manual on line. I have a different remote but I know 3 things happen. Weird but here they are.
L sound comes from both speakers. R sound comes from both speakers. #3 is STEREO.
I'm glad I figured it out tonight. I have to find the original remote and/or replace this player. It's a 19 year old 10 bit player. A Sony DVP-S550D.
I know the sound was first rate after I hit the "stereo" mode I guess it is.
I'm curious to see if another player will sound as good as what I heard the past couple of days.
I also think the woofers are moving well in these ADS's now. Awesome bass was heard tonight!
I do have the left one flipped over. I just haven't taken a picture of it.

OK, here's a weird one for y'all.
We were driving home from an impromptu pizza dinner at our daughter & family's house in a town near us. Driving there (and back) we'd observed an ... interesting... piece of yard art.
To track a long story down, we believe we have tracked it down.

Apparently this bus ball (or an eerily similar Doppelgänger) was a much-beloved fixture at the UVM campus in Burlington... until this spring.
