Drinking a lot and bad sound seem to go hand in hand.

Is replacing the blue caps a preventative to prevent damage or improve sound quality or maybe both ?Thanks

The big blue caps drift badly over time. The original gfa 555 is long in the tooth and replacing those and whatever electrolytics will bring it back into spec. Pretty simple design.
It would improve sound and headroom.

I'm sorry I do not. Honestly send Adcom a phone call or email. They've been very responsive in the past.

Here is a good read, I had one of these amps and I couldn't throw enough money at him to service mine lol

The calls get forwarded Jim’s old partner in New Jersey. He told me if it works don’t fix it because may lead to numerous more problems. I guess Ill leave them be.

Electron Kinetics Eagle amp and preamp?

Holy shiitzkie! Turn 'em up real loud, see if you can get beamed into the ether like John Iverson, never to be seen again.

(Or, maybe they'll just transport you to Singapore.)

Supposedly, those amps were SUPERB in their day. The 7A was legendary. The 2 competed with Adcom 555, B&K ST-140, and such. I don't know about the preamp.

So did he invent the rail gun? Or did he scam the mofia into thinking he did for some quick cash and got buried in concrete for it? Sounds like a good movie plot.

Keep the SDA 2b. Those are good with the exception that the drivers mw6509 were only used for two models, the SDA 1b and that model. If you like those keep and eye open for the pin/blade model which is based on the SDA 1c design. The drivers are a little more common mw6510 and mw6511
Those are a little over priced IMHO

Thanks! So there’s a blade pin cable Sda 2b that is the desired one?

I planned on keeping the the 2bs I have which are blade blade but wanted another set for my second Adcom amp.

I stand corrected. I seen the plug for the old blade/blade socket. I overlooked the pin/blade socket in the cup.
    Ol'eagle eyes @F1nut 😉

The SDA SRS 2 had two versions

Blade/blade interconnect based on the SDA 1b with 4 mw6509 drivers. Very scarce

Pin/blade interconnect based on the SDA 1c
    2-mw6510
    2-mw6511
The pin/blade is the more desirable.

That being said the mw6511 drivers are just about as scarce as the mw6509

I still think $700 is a little steep, offer $500 and hopefully come to a good outcome in the middle.
The SDA SRS 2 do offer a huge soundstage.

I think I will pass on them because the cabinets are a little bigger than I expected. I will keep watching for another set of sda 2bs. I appreciate you guys responding with your knowledge of these!

If you need that to improve sound you've got bigger problems.
