100 bucks is a good deal.
You will need a common ground amp capable of providing plenty of current into 4 ohms or less. You may find that some internal wiring is causing the "blown" speaker. The RD0194 drop-in replacement tweeters are on backorder from Midwest Speaker Repair, but I believe they will be delivering in Feb or March.SDA SRS 2.3tl, SDA 1C, SDA 2B (TL mod), Reserve 200 -
I currently have 2 Adcom gfa 555s powering 2 polk sda 2bs. I use the second Adcom on two Yamaha towers and was considering replacing them with these sda 2s.A few more questions please:
Is there much difference in the 2bs I own and these?
Is the possibility of an internal wiring issue easy to spot? Like melted or disconnected or touching where it shouldn’t.
Any suggestions on grills or just live without them?
Thanks for helping

The 2A and 2B use different drivers. The 2A SDA cable is blade/blade and they cannot be driven by non-common ground amps, period. Is the possibility of an internal wiring issue easy to spot? Like melted or disconnected or touching where it shouldn’t.
Yes.Any suggestions on grills or just live without them?

Yes it's a good deal but you already have 2Bs? Are you going to have another setup somewhere else in the house? Even if you are you already have SDAs, experiment with other speakers maybe.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

Ha ha ha yeah. And then this: "These speakers need a little TLC they rock out and have the baddest crossover around.. one speaker is perfect one has at least one blown driver the pair is yours for 100"

Since you have the 2B's, I would not recommend buying the 2A's."Sometimes you have to look to the past to understand where you are going in the future"Anger is just anger. It isn’t good. It isn’t bad. It just is. What you do with it is what matters.

If they're the blade/blade interconnect model not as desirable as the pin/blade model.
Price is OK if all drivers work.
If you pick them up transport them on their backs and short the binding posts to help prevent divers from flopping. -
Looks like they are at a yard sale. I see one of the drivers center cone pushed in. Ill go take a look
-
Any idea in their day of their cost when they were new? I have a set of sda 2bs I bought new and I think they were around 1200.00. along time ago. I know that doesn’t mean these are a deal.
-
Just a guess, $3000-4000

Make sure you have adequate amplification & a large room if you buy those. They won't sound great in an RV or a studio apartment.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

Thanks, I hope their not stolen lol. Have 2 adcom gfa 555s. I unbridged them and seems to sound better to me. 2 into the sda 2bs and 2 into Yamaha 8 ohm speakers. Is one Adcom sufficient power for 2 of these big honkers?
-
You're running 4 speakers in stereo on the same setup right now?afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

I drink alot and to me they sound good! I went and looked at those biggins and they are the 2 flat prong interconnect cable. No cable of course. He said his business is buying abandoned storage lots and thats where they came from. I was not able to listen to them. He also had an amp and pre-amp I haven’t heard of but Im not surprised since I’ve been running my speakers wrong for 30 years or more. Here are some pics:

I haven't heard Eagle 2000 either.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

I was thinking 500 but wtf am I gonna do with these? I guess one of my Adcoms could handle them? Ya think these are about 1988 build date?
-
They're heavy AF and huge. If you're on the fence just pass.
The 2Bs you have are awesome. I sold 1.2s and went back to 2Bs.afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

So my thoughts are not always spot on. So a little help needed please. If I purchased these it would be best to get rid of my 2- sda 2bs and 2- Yamaha's. Then go back to bridging the 2- gfa 555 amps then into these Biggins?
-
Do not use a interconnect cable with bridged amps, that series of SDA needs common ground amp, if not you may let the magic smoke out. As a matter of fact many bridged amps dislike less than 8ohm speakers.
If I remember correctly the blade/blade SRS is 4ohm -
Theres a Polk non-common ground inter connect cable for this when I had the adcoms bridged but I sold it for 100 bucks. Im scrapping the thought of buying these thugs. The amps stay way cooler unbridged and I think even with 4 speakers it sounds better. I had 4 when the system was bridged also. Thanks for all your input.

Those are sda SRS not 1.2- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
