The OCD part of me would want to cut both molded ends off and just use the new cables with new plugs on each end.

    :D

I don't think Pangea would offer a cable rebuilding service since their cables are sourced for distribution but I could be wrong.

You cannot reuse the terminations as they are permanently molded to the cable.

Agreed 100%. I’ll just be cutting the cord the desired length from the factory plugs, not trying to take them off or anything. I’d def have to cut those off if I was wanting that but I’m gonna leave them, it’s just easier that way.

I’ll post some pics once I get to doing it. Heat shrink is a must bc I feel the putter jacket is going to come undone pretty quick once I cut it. I may put glue near where I cut the wire it doesn’t do that

Cut! Very thick tough stuff. I like seeing the foil shield and wire covering for it. This is good quality cable. Oh and this cable will only yield three cables because it’s only a 2 meter length. Idk where me thinking it was 12 or 14’ came from.

Stripped! Idk if you can see it but there’s one strand of solid core for I’m assuming low frequencies, I remember reading that somewhere. I ended up just melting the edges of the putter jacket and it worked fine.

Connected! This is a sonar quest IEC connector, pure copper from China. I had this connecting my power conditioner. They’re a tight fit!

Finished! It presents well imo but I don’t see it behind components;) the cables will still end up a little longer than their .6m lengths but they’ll do.

    I’m pleased

Looks good, the build quality looks good on the cable, nice to see the innards since I own many Pangea cable’s..

So you didn’t do both ends?

I like the Sonar ends, very good grip yet not death grip.
I've used several sets of them.
    Nice job.

Man the pangea wire looks good. Odd there is oxidation given their construction but still very solid

MKII (Cardas) will have a blue spiral sewn into the fabric sheathing.

You are correct, The original was some company in Japan that was "supposedly" top quality copper. They went to Cardas after they lost the ability to buy from Japanese supplier.

Right. SE was PCOCC for the center conductor and run of the mill OFC for the rest. SE MKII is Cardas for the center conductor and OFC for the rest. I don't think they changed anything else inside the cable with shielding. A generic IEC power cable is just three stranded conductors usually so some thought went into the Pangea products. I remember seeing some photos of counterfeit power cords over the years where generic stranded conductors had been put inside a thick fancy looking jacket stuffed with cotton.

That’s interesting. So what we’re getting a single good quality solid copper core👍 Awesome!

you can still buy stuff like that too! it’s like they use “pure cotton insulation” as an audiophilers selling point when it does nothing different from ordinary paper lol they do make some pretty looking power cords but for just shielded wires you’re just buying a pretty cable. Although terminations claim to be rhodium plated and/or silver plated copper. Some will say bronze and platinum too

If the dielectric was made out of cotton it would be better than Teflon, cotton has a dielectric constant of 1.3 and Teflon is 2.0
