Thanks; I was long overdue for a change so George got replaced by a sunset pic I took a couple weeks ago from a tour boat in Tampa Bay.

I still would like to compare that to a VTF3-MK5. I was and every time I see these I think of upgrading but then I watch a movie and it's a no.
When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

Not likely to happen. I've tried dual 18's in the past and reverted back to a single.

A bit of an update. Imagine my surprise when I discovered a refund from SVS for $425.40. I noticed this refund on Friday and being the inquisitive type I called SVS a few minutes ago to find out what was going on. I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth so to speak but if the $ doesn't belong to me I don't want it. The fellow told me that SVS had a Labor Day sale and I was within the 60 day window of price matching. I had no idea and I was already happy with the price I paid ($1499) but now I'm ecstatic. So for a little over $1G I have a new sub that completely wipes the floor with my trusted old 18'' thumper.

Off hand I cannot think of a single company that does that and as I told the fellow I'm a SVS fan for life now.

Now I'm wondering have any of you fellows that ordered a sub during that sale in July gotten a refund to?

Congrats on the great deal but it seems like they made a mistake. I just purchased 4 x SB16s during the sale and the cheapest one was $1399? I got an additional 5% off for purchasing 2 sets of duals with their discount code. I would have loved to have gotten the deal they gave you but I don't see what they were basing the price match they offered you. The SB16 is usually $1999 so you ended up saving almost 50%.
Again I am really happy you got that great deal but it is a bit unusual.

Yes I thought it was a mistake to so that's why I called them. I've also searched around for their Labor Day sale but the price seemed to $1999.
Wow I can't imagine the bass you must be getting with 4 of the big boys in one room!!

I don't have them yet. Currently I have 4 x SB13s and they do pretty well. The upgrade to the SB16s was an impulse buy I may regret. This was the first time they had 4 available during one of their sales and I was able to get them in my cart before they were gone. I just hope I don't have too much trouble selling my SB13s. Too bad I didn't get the deal on my SB16s that you ended up paying. You probably got the best price anyone has ever paid for an SB16.

The SB4000 is $1499.00 in black ash. The SB16 Ultra is $1999.00. Someone made an oops.

And it arrived today.........the 53' tractor trailer it came in looked just a little bit out of place in front of the house while the neighbors are getting their Amazon van deliveries. >:)
This monster really gets the job done and I've already forgotten all about the antique 18'' sub it replaced.

That was my thinking to and why I made the phone call. I was thinking it was a misplaced decimal point that that was one spot too far to the right but the refund for $425.40 is still there and correct according to Ryan. The total for the sub including tax and shipping ended up being 1142.96.

Finally getting around to posting my experience. It took two separate shipments because FedEx Freight butchered the first shipment and they had to be returned. Initially SVS sent replacements out right away but then some manger intervened and decided to try and save them some money. Caused almost a month of delay and ultimately they ended up sending the replacements with a different freight company and they were packed on the pallet much better.

I definitely notice an improvement in the bottom end going from the SB13s to the SB16s. It is not a direct comparison because I change Pre-amps as well and the JBL has DIRAC which is much better than the Marantz/MiniDSP combo.

Wow, those four sealed 16’s must really slam in that room. What type of stand is it? It’s holding some serious weight there.

I honestly haven't really pushed the subs yet. Plus the room is open to the kitchen so it will never really pressurize. The stand is a Salamander Synergy 237.
