I got a little ding in my pocket yesterday. I get texts routinely during the day. This text was from Ed: "hi carl" This is the first that I heard from him since he was being preped for a ventilator 40 days ago. I was so happy to hear from him
It was the best message that I have received in a long time! I asked him how he was feeling. He said that is is back from a long "road trip". Ed is famous for his road trips to find SRT and Polk components. He said that he woke from a coma four days ago and he was still very foggy. He said that his neurological and brain functions were all okay. He said that he needed to learn to walk again. He lost 80 lbs. He is in good spirits. His work partner is working on getting him a tablet.
If you are interested in sending a get well card to Ed, PM me. I have his address.
He will need a lot of rehab. Ed has seven children.
Please consider contributing to his GoFundMe drive from us.

I exchanged text messages with Ed yesterday. He said that he is doing much better. He is going through intensive rehab to walk. He is taking short walks with a walker and says that he hopes to be out of the rehab hospital by the end of the month. Ed also stated that his heart, lungs, and neurological system have no permanent damage.
He also indicated that he needs to rebuild his overall strength. He is facing a long recovery but he is optimistic he will be his old self again.
Ed sent me a selfie, but I am not going to post it. He definitely needs a haircut LOL! His usual hairstyle is a very short. Right now his hair style looks similar to Scompracer's poodle.Carl -
Thanks so much for the update. We're still thinking about you Ed during your recovery and rehabilitation process! You got this.

I'm puzzled as to why he has to learn to walk again.Political Correctness'.........defined

I'm puzzled as to why he has to learn to walk again.
From the web:
Muscle atrophy. Muscle atrophy is when muscles waste away. It's usually caused by a lack of physical activity. When a disease or injury makes it difficult or impossible for you to move an arm or leg, the lack of mobility can result in muscle wasting.
Ed was laying down not moving for about 38 days. It will take a time to rebuild all or his core strength.Carl -

I have a friend who was put into a coma for over a month as the result of a heart incident. He had to learn to walk again also. I was told the same thing about loss of core strength and muscle atrophy.
