My wife works for the state.(NY) She will be off(with pay, thank God)until at least 5/1. I’m a letter carrier. The only way I’m getting out of work is if I get sick. Hopefully I’ll be working straight through until my retirement in 3 3/4 years.

Bravo to you and your wife!

Thank you; Sadly I give 2 thumbs down to her former facility for doing nothing other than offering excuses.

Working. I got very lucky the company i work for stepped up before the stay at home was done in Illinois and grabbed 400 laptops and hotspots to give out to people who don't have computers or internet. Once we got the equipment in, in under 2 weeks time with the use of vpn for some and Amazon Workspace for the rest, we got 4000 people working from home.

We put in a lot of hours making this happen and worked issues out as they happened but, we had 0 layoffs. Monday they are actually doing new hire training for call center folks all remote.

I feel i got lucky and feel blessed that i work for a company that did this for its employees.

My brother who is a musician and makes his living playing bigger bar venues and festivals hasn't worked for about a month now and by the looks of it, probably won't be for at least another month.

I manage a chemical lab that’s deemed essential so I continue to go to work. I try to work one day of the week at home to minimize the amount of people on a given day. The wife works in senior health care and has been working from home and only going in if absolutely needed.

Still working. My wife and I both work for an educational software company. We have been working to get states access to online curriculum for their students.

I personally work in the technology side but we both have direct helping hands in getting these kids in school from home. It feels good.

Our School District is starting online school Monday for our daughter. We will see how that goes.

Hope everyone is being safe and healthy.

I have found that I am truly a creature of habit when it comes to doing my job. I like to plan and know how the day is progressing as I go through it and have found that my normal schedule has been totally blown to bits by the changes. I have been uncomfortable for 3 weeks now with daily changes, and will be glad when some level of normalcy comes back around.

Was looking forward to a vacation at the end of April for the kids spring break but had to cancel plans since the place we were planning on going is shut down. Dunno when I'm gonna get a day off before Memorial Day now. Seems like asking for a day off with the current climate is going to not go over well.

We were supposed to be having my parents 50th wedding anniversary on April 25th too but that's not happening now either. Has to be postponed until we all come to our senses.

It'd be nice to just be able to get some sleep without howling cats, inconsiderate kids and squeaking guinea pigs.

I wish they'd all go back to school/work some days.

Good for her, putting people at risk by not having PPE, is borderline criminal.

I think once this is all said and done, many companies are going to explore the work from home idea as a way to continue on with their business in case this happens again, and it will.

Does your wife in a retirement home?

Mine did until friday she also put in her resignation. No PPE census was low, they do have residents with infectious diseases. Due to low Census they have been cutting hours and making them due more with less hours. 2 weeks ago the blocked off parts of the building preparing it for the acceptance of sickened patients that have Corona. Now all of a sudden they are supplying PPE and giving back the hours they took away. They have had several workers that have been loyal for 20 years walk out. The wife had one year left where she had enough time to retire, she just did as of last friday, you are right the few extra $$ are not worth it good luck to you and your family Motorstereo.

No she worked at a home for the mentally challenged. Several of the residents would also leave to get booze or drugs or whatever and then come back and not respect the 6 foot rule. Management says they can't force them to stay in the facility. I say it's your facility you make the rules. We weren't interested in their excuses during this crises so good bye it was. Their version of ppe was the cheapest mask you could possibly find and to use it over. No Corona there yet but it's only a matter of time especially with people coming and going to the worst possible places.

Good for you and your wife as well and I hope you both stay safe. That facility sounds like the one my wife left a few months ago after being there 17 years. Like most places it's all about the $$ but some of them sure do take things to the extreme over that $$ don't they.

Blessed to still be working....more than ever. Both the wife and I, mostly from home. I feel for all those negatively impacted and out of work/businesses. We went through the same thing (both of us) back in the recession that started in '07.

    Airline pilot here ....
    Working from home .....😃

But seriously .... still flying ( though not much ) , typically carrying 6-10 Passengers out of 170 capacity on the 737 ....

Worse than the 911 aftermath ....
Hopefully won’t go on much longer ...

We have @ 13,500 pilots , the airline offered @1,300 early paid retirements and @ 4,000 paid leaves of absences. ....

2 months ago they were complaining that we were undermanned by 1500-2000 pilots - hiring 100+ a month - as were all the airlines.
You just never know what life will hand you .

Far less expensive than a major furlough, and all the subsequent training costs for something that will hopefully be short lived ....

It’s not a good outlook when they offer something like that .....unheard of in my 30 years here .

    I’m down for the count.
At first I was considered nonessential but then the Mich Gov reversed her position. I am a home inspector where 99% of my business comes from realtor referrals. Real estate agents are not considered essential… So if they’re not working, neither am I.
