In all my years of audio, I've only had 1 failure of a component. In the early 80's I had a Pioneer A9 integrated that just literally went up in smoke one morning. I did however, cause my own failure with a very expensive Pioneer LD-1100 laser disc player, when I dropped it down some barracks steps while moving. Total loss.

I probably had one of the worst and somewhat famous audio blunder. Think - Tyler Acoustic speakers flying through the air...

Definitely not a good day in my audio journey.

    Tom

    :s:'(

I've had that pic. in my mind for years and will always be able to say...

"There's always somebody that's had a worse day than me" pertaining to this audio world. And to have a picture of it at that exact time blows my mind.

Don't we ALL wish for you that we could rewind that moment and have you walk perfectly to the truck or trailer, like in a Bewitched or Twilight Zone episode!

Time travel could fix that! ;)

Eh, while it took me a while to get up the nerve to post that photo, it forced me to get another pair of Tyler's. Seeing as how I have the world's most highly modified Tyler Acoustics Lynbrook Signature Series (Those were the Taylos 7U's), I'm sittin' pretty good now. They were featured in the same cabin where these speakers went flying.

The days of hauling my system off to be featured at an audio event are now over and I could not be any happier than I am right now with my rig.

My Peachtree Nova integrated. Love the amp, but one day decided to swap out IC's to the sub. So when I pulled the original IC out, it was quite tight (warning bell should have went off), and I managed to pull the metal sleeve off!
    i03fftbgpi56.png

This is where it becomes a little unclear. I must of been in some sort of fugue state, because before I knew it, I managed to pull 4 of em off! Yes I'm an idiot!
    nxv3a9eu627y.png

Well that forced me to send the unit in to Peachtree for repairs. My local shop wouldn't touch it.

And then, when Peachtree received the unit, the wooden case was damaged during shipping, forcing me to buy another one!
    57aw9pmxgp96.png

Ah, memories! She's all better now.
    2w6ax04bckbi.png

I found out later that my issue was a common one for these units, as the RCA jacks are cheap arse, so be careful.

I would post that old thread about my Krell Evolution 525 that I sold and had to go get here, as that was my biggest blunder by far in this hobby.

Back at the old house, I had a HT setup in the family room with RT1000's in the front, and RT800's in the rear. All towers, with a CS400i for the center channel. And a homegrown sub.

    3 blunders:

Put the center channel on the fireplace mantel, just below the TV. Well the heat from the fireplace caused the vinyl wrap on the speaker to shrink, and de-laminate. Duh!

And, the towers were used by my new puppy at the time, Walter, to mark his territory as he was reaching adulthood. Yuk!

When Walter was teething, he decided to chew up my speaker cables! Thank goodness they were home grown type!

    Still love Walter!
