I got an 18lb version. Have you tried it? I'm a little scared that it will make me feel trapped.
Not really.....just makes rolling around and getting up in the middle night a bit tougher. I could see how some "back sleepers" may have issue with it vs "side sleepers".

Got to spend all day with all the family at our house. That’s the best for us. The time together.

As some of you may know, I don’t need any help with gifts as it relates to audio. Those tend to show up year round.

    Got the wife a vacation.

Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. I thought about picking up Voltron myself. I was a huge fan in my childhood. Unfortunately I spent too much on retro Nintendo gear (besides Christmas) recently so could not pick it up. I am a geek too.

Are you playing on a CRT? If you're on an HDTV check out the RetroUSB AVS. It's the best way to play on a modern TV unless you go the Framemeister/OSSC route and RGB mod the NES.

I don't have the NES or SNES yet. I have the HW for each major version after that though. I also have the SNES classic that can be loaded with NES titles. I do want to get the original HW but not ready yet. For consoles, most have composite video out so it's not hard to connect to an LCD. NTSC RF Demodulator's exist but not sure of the quality.

This past month I bought a bunch of Gameboy Advance carts and a GBA SP. Ebay kind-of sucks for retro carts. Many N64 carts are not originals but clone HW with ROMS burnt into them so I haven't bought that many titles. I fear NES/SNES carts might be the same issue.

You don't want to plug in old 240P consoles into a modern TV with composite video. It'll look horrible plus the TV will create a bunch of input lag upscaling it to 1080/4K. i.e. you press a button on the controller and it wont happen on screen for several frames.

I've got a couple hundred old carts, a few bought on eBay. GBA is pretty rampant with repro's but for the most part they're labeled as such.

Check out Analogue consoles and the RetroUSB AVS. FPGA is where it's at for playing on a modern TV, zero input lag. With the Analogue consoles you can also just put every game ever for that console on an SD card and play off that instead of spending a lot of money for the cartridges. I have the Super NT and the Mega SG (SNES and Genesis) and Analogue is releasing an FPGA Gameboy next year with a high def screen, which plays original Gameboy and GBA. I've got an AGB GBA with a modded backlit screen but that will be collecting dust once the Analogue Pocket comes out.

All I got was a headache... And a couple extra pounds!

OK, I did get a few very nice gifts, but the kid's excitement and gratitude for their Hamilton tickets was the best gift we got.

I got to upgrade the girlfriend to fiance.
Also got a gift card for a local record shop and some cash. I'll probably sit on the cash until I have a better idea of what the year ahead looks like. But once I have enough in the bank I'd really like to get new speakers before we merge households.

Joe - I wish the tickets were only $200 or so. We paid almost triple all in. But, we got them row three, center section and for a Saturday night. About as good as it gets. We’re still seeing the “cheap” seats for $300-$400... We got these seats for about what we would have paid for the worst seats a year ago. Still way too much, but I hear it’s an amazing show.

We figure since I can get a couple nights in a hotel for free, it’s a long needed mini vacation.

Bud, in order not to derail this thread on that topic, either post a new thread about that or PM me. I have dealt with many a house with termites (not mine) and while I may not be the authority, I'd be happy to offer pointers/advice.

BTW, sorry to hear of this news. That bites.

So, I had a pile of cash I'd been squirreling away since my B-Day in 2018.

Since we got the new house, I have had a ton of fixing to do. Much of that fixing is made up of fixing some really mickey-moused "finish" work from the previous owner. It's so bad that I'm, at a point where I'm going to have to gut room by room because of all the poor work and bad decisions piled on top of each other. Needless to say, I'm going to have a ton of finish work to do with baseboards, crown molding, window casings and so on. I've already run into a problem where the walls the previous owner "made" in the dining room to create an "open floor plan" in a 100 year old house are so far from square that I can't fit a 45 degree miter on an outside corner of crown molding. I actually need a 53 degree angle and my current saw cannot handle that. With the way crown molding has to be cut, I can't get the angle I need with going the opposite direction either.

So it was time for a better miter saw.

So I took my pile of cash and got me one.

    8r1ujvu267zo.jpg

Looked for it in a bunch of places for significantly over 600 bucks. So I was looking at lesser brands hoping to get a better price that was less painful to the wallet. I was actually going to go get a Hercules miter saw from Harbor Freight because it's been rated a "best buy" and "best bargain" since it was introduced last summer. It's currently on sale for $349 plus tax and since no HF local had it in stock (probably due to Christmas gifting), I had to pay shipping too. It's normally $399.

Then I decided to check Amazon on a whim as I hadn't done so yet. Mainly because I've looked for decent tools there before and found zilch.

But this time, 3rd page in, I find a wholesaler out of North Jersey with an Amazon Marketplace store front and he has this Delta Cruzer (one of the top rated miter saws on the market ) for about $450 plus shipping and tax. So I got it. Legit $513 to my door. So for a hundred bucks more than the best HF has to offer I got a top rated saw
and beat the retail price by at least $200 before taxes and shipping.

    So Merry Christmas to me!
