My youngest son Dayton Foster is a big part of the Kettering Fairmont Bowling team. (Top scoring bowler) and anchor in all bakers matches.
The Birds were invited to the 2019/20 kick off along with the other top 31 top scoring high schools from last year. Ist round after 3 games and 2 bakers games they were in 28th place. I thought we were done as I was packing up..coach looks at me and said the 28th place did not include bakers scores so hold on.
Well we waited around and sure enough we cut to position 12. Top 16 went on to bowl it out and our boys won the whole deal.11 hours later they bring back a state title to the school. 1st time ever. My son is bottom row left. Am I a proud papa?? Oh yeah. Plus he keeps a 4.0. In honor classes.. Go Dayton and go Firebirds.. In for a great season. Way to kick it off. Event was held at The Palace Bowling alley in Columbus Ohio. What a day it was.

Thanks Dave. I thought maybe some of the guys here just might have family in the sport. I forgot to mention that my son switched to two handed bowling a couple of years ago and has caught on real well with it. I'm not a bowler but have always loved watching great bowlers.

Congrats to your son and his team!

I was on a bowling team in high school. Not related to the high school but had 16 year olds and close. We came in second that one year. 3 of us hippies and a straight guy who we were a bad influence on. I was the anchor. I ALMOST bowled a 300 one time.
I had a league avg. of 169. It could've been higher if I didn't get happy before some, if not all, matches.

    GOOD TIMES! :p

Played hundreds of games of PINBALL in that bowling alley too!
GOOD TIMES doing that too. :D

Some long-term Polkie around here, can’t remember which one, had posted of his multiple 300 games a couple/few years ago.

If said Polkie was PFB, I apologize...

Bill (aka @ROHfan) just bowled a 300 not long ago, though IIRC it was his first? He hasn't been around here lately though.

So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

If I bowled 300, I wouldn't hang around with you common folk either. B)

Yes Mike. Zach won GWOC (Greater western Ohio conference) as a junior 2012 and same year was bowler of the year in Ohio. He has 8 300 rings and 2 800 series rings too. He doesn't have much time for it anymore but is still a great bowler . Out of the Marines now and is a used car manager for a well known Honda dealership in Athens Ohio.

Awesome, great to see kids bowl like that.

I've been bowling for over 10 years, never hit a 300 had 279 a few times.

My son bowled for years, hit his first 300 at age 12, 800 series @ 14. He still bowls once in a while. He'll go out and roll a 200+ after a month off.
When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.
